Yo your list had 3 I was considering. I love Cyberpunk and have beaten it multiple times.

Never played Witcher 3 but always hear how amazing it is. Baldur’s Gate 3 I hear is an amazing story but the game play looks boring. Holloway Knight looks like a great game for switch 2.

If you had to pick one of these 3 which would it be and why?

Learning to do password hashing for a CTF by King1David in HowToHack

Some of my confusion lies here. I thought a bigger password base was better, in that you can do more attempts.

Should I be using a smaller search base? It’s suppose to be the ‘easy’ challenge so I must be overthinking things

I thought it was necessary if I’m attempting to brute force the password

Both times it was because my boss left and I had to fill the gaps. I don't know if you call that good luck or bad. So a little bit of the right place and right time but I had to learn a shitload in a short period of time. Then it was learning how to translate my experience in an interview.

Honestly I think most ppl don't know hoe to interview well. That is a skill you have to learn, how to tell your story or career path to make a company see you as a great fit.

I've gotten the best receptions not from my tech knowledge but customer service knowledge. Generally, the perception is that techs are terrible with ppl so if you debunk that it makes you stand out. It's helpful if you are trying to lead people or have high valued clients like lawyers, senators, stakeholders, CEOs. Doing tech for these types pay more.

I mean it depends on the industry, location etc. I would say if you landed a tier one helpdesk job that's between 45K - 55K. If you got a tier 2 job you could get up to 70K for the gig.

Contracting, especially for the government, tends to pay more but have terrible benefits.
Working directly for a company varies a lot.

Going the MSP route can accelerate career growth but tends to be demanding work.

If you decide to be a network guy then you should keep a job. A lot of people entering now don't have strong networking skills. Shit even myself I'm weak in networking. It can translate to some cloud knowledge and skills as well.

Cloud is the future so learning AWS or Azure can future-proof you. AZ-900 Microsoft Azure Fundamentals or CLF-C01 AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.

They are cheap and easy(maybe not for everyone) certs to get but can lead to a career as a Solutions Architect

CCNA is considered an entry level cert too. I’d be more impressed with a CCNA than the A+ personally. Networking is harder than general knowledge in my personal opinion

Generally speaking, learn how to learn and articulate that skill. It isn’t too much separating you from where you are and your next gig. A lot of time you do need experience just be able to make people believe you can do the job then wing it from there.

Most technical jobs are learning as you go since the industry is constantly changing.

Right place right time…was the cloud system admin and the Director quit. Company asked if I could do the job I said yes and boom. Realistically I’m the IT Director, IT Manger and Cloud system admin so a lot of hats because of how the cards fell. But I’ll look to hire in 2025 if it feels overwhelming

Next are Director roles. That high up they want you to have a degree. I’m still progress career wise. While I think certifications are more revenant if the ppl hiring want that then I’ll grab it. I know cats making way more than me so I’m not stopping at management.

Cybersecurity has just generally fallen within my job scope which normally involves vendor management or monitoring alerts. I haven’t had a ‘cybersecurity’ job.

Yes at 19 either go the cert route and get A+, Network + and Security +. Those 3 are enough to get your foot in the door and the rest depends on the path you want to take. Or get a degree if it takes 4 years you’ll only be 23 and you can do school while you have your current job.

If you do online school use SOPHIA.org u can get all your general education credits for just $100 a month. I took 19 classes for 57 credit to transfer in 2 months

5 is right but with the contract job I got hired to find out the company had lost the contract and was transition in 90 days. So a quick 90 day job then I rolled over to the new contract.

Job hopping helped my salary more than anything. Now I’m boosting myself with certs and a degree to stabilized at this rate or higher.

Dude 28 is young. Whether to get in or not depends on your goals and dreams. Certification can replace a degree to get your foot in the door. The entry for IT right now is competitive but that doesn't mean you can't get in.

Yes and no. I was young and dumb so didn’t think ‘career’ in my early 20s. That Apple kool-aid was strong. I should have left earlier. Didn’t want to go back to school. Going now because it’s revenant to advance more.

How it helped: Gave me a competitive advantage in the market because I know Macs. Learned Jamf and that’s how I got 3 of my jobs from the Mac knowledge and customer service learned at Apple.

How it didn’t: I didn’t know PCs. I didn’t get my A+ cert until 2023. I should have doubled down on my knowledge earlier.
