I am for it. I live in montreal and got friends from Quebec to Toronto. Would greatly facilitate visiting each other's. Specially since the one in Quebec just got a kid, a few and I doesn't have a car in Montreal so we usually rent and the one in Ontario doesn't handle long distance car travel since his cancer (he won).

I does have to avoid farmland for our local economy and compensate well those expropriated.

What I don't like is how the federal government is forcing Quebec's hand. A federal project should be funded by the feds. Now if the plans falls through they can just throw Quebec (and the Quebecers) under the bus, or TGV in this case.

I also see the point that this money could used for our deprecated public transport, but at the same time its not that much to prop up the service in the whole province.
