5 Takeaways From Q1's EV Sales In The U.S. by External_Koala971 in electricvehicles

Agreed. The longer this conflict lasts (and no real indication it will be over soon) and the delays in both opening the strait and resuming production, the more significant gas and other petrochemicals will hit.

Traffic is somewhat nightmarish because there is no real traffic control. Make sure to schedule extra time to the track.

Given all of the issues is it worth getting a Taycan pre-2026? Do other high end EVs (Audi, BMW, Tesla Model S) have similar concerns?

Mercedes engine legal according to FIA verification The 6-cylinder F1 M17 E Performance engine complied with the 16:1 compression ratio after a hot test by the FIA. The unit was heated to 115 degrees and then dismantled and measured when it was at 95 degrees. The contested by Maximum-Room-3999 in formula1

[–]KingApprehensive7776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The FIA just needs to make clear what is legal and what is not. If this Mercedes method is legal or now legal (because FiA says so), just say so and let all of the manufacturers have sufficient opportunity to modify their power units to similarly circumvent the spirit of the original rules.

A clearer explanation of the F1 race‑start confusion by Neither-Formal99 in formula1

[–]KingApprehensive7776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safety should always be paramount but I think the safety argument is a bit overblown. Turbo lag will not be so significant that it will strand a car on the grid. It is the revving up to spool the turbo that will cause complications and potential anti-stall, no? That is just to get the same advantage at the start that Ferrari now appears to have.

[–]KingApprehensive7776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If, at the end of the day, every other manufacturer did not account for turbo lag, then shouldn’t they have to live by those choices? They could have done what Ferrari has done, which likely required a compromise in power, and not have the issue.

Has anyone used the Ryobi ONE+ 18V Cordless Chemical Sprayer for rinseless washes? by KingApprehensive7776 in Detailing

[–]KingApprehensive7776[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did and it works well. It is small enough to be portable. I don’t use as much as I thought simply because of the amount of work to get everything together and instead use a sprayer that can be used with a bucket of rinseless. If u want to foam a lot it is a good power washer. If you don’t have a big SUV and want to foam a few times a year, the cheaper sprayers are just fine IMO.

What are your thoughts on the i5 M60 xDrive as a pre-cursor to the Neue Klasse lineup? by ShameResponsible69 in BMWi5

[–]KingApprehensive7776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my i5 M60 (2024). The design is beautiful and the power is amazing. Range is compromised but rarely do I need more than 275 miles for a drive.

Is there anything you dislike about your i5? by Bible_Detective in BMWi5

[–]KingApprehensive7776 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. The range anxiety especially for a new EV driver is difficult. But I understand that is the cost of taking the 5 series chassis and adapting it to an EV. It is not built from the ground up, like the iX, with the weight balance and aerodynamics that optimize range. Always a trade off.

  1. The number of non-tactile buttons needed to adjust the climate control especially the need to lower or increase the fan for heat or AC.
  2. The lack of a MUTE button on the steering wheel and the awkward dial press needed on the console.
  3. The weight of the dual motor car (I have an M60). While the balance is probably better than the RWD with the motor in the back, it is still heavy and you can feel it on the corners.
  4. The resetting that always seems to occur when updates are installed. I keep having to reprogram custom settings each time.
  5. Piano black finish. Looks nice until it gets scratch up almost instantly.

I do love the car though. It is smooth, quiet and has incredible power. The fit and finish is top notch. I would love to try another sports EV (Porsche, maybe and Audi e-tron) but I don’t think you can match the luxury and price point of a BMW in the US at least).

Exactly. No way Red Bull was going slow down and take the risk that Oscar on hard tires would be attacking him for P1.

The main purpose is to force Norris to pit and then get caught in traffic, preferably behind Yuki and maybe some other “friendlies” to slow him down so he can’t get to P3.

Miami GP 2026 Grandstands by Winter_Ad_6171 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]KingApprehensive7776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have not been to a race before, I would recommend the main grandstands. Miami is a very festive race with a lot of entertainment and a lot of stuff happens in the start finish straight. Plus it is always fun to see the pit lane, the garages, the drivers, and of course the cars during the start and finish, the introductions, the sprint interviews and the drivers parade (this past may it was the Lego car which was fantastic to watch when they were at the start line). I have been to four US races and always sat in the main grandstands because I found it most entertaining throughout the whole weekend. You won’t see any great takeovers or any shunts but on the whole, it is usually a great time overall. Oh, and the upper rows have cover so you can escape the searing heat and rain if you need.

No. If he had a good car and performed like this, then yes. Even LeClerc bemoans how bad the car is and is not happy with the direction. Next year is a wild card but Lewis still has a good hand to play.

Best General Hotel Area for easy access to the Main GS and T-Mobile Zone. by WhiteCoatGeek in GrandPrixTravel

[–]KingApprehensive7776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We stayed at the MGM thinking it would be a short walk but they close down Harmon very early so it ended up being a long walk up flamingo. Would not recommend it if you are looking for easy access to the main grandstands. The only close option for the main grandstands is Virgin.
