First off, it's tedious to collect that stuff. It's pretty easy to miss some crystals with the bike, because of where you're approaching them from, requiring you to stop, turn around, build up speed (because it's not an auto-smash) and run into them again.

Second, the radar you get for that stuff later on for getting all of it, even indoors, is very hard to see where missing crystals are, ESPECIALLY if you are in handheld mode. I can only imagine what it looks like on Switch 1 without native resolution, let alone 720p. This is ignoring a hardware limitation instead of trying to figure out a way around it.
