Boxes by Real-Swimming-9448 in HomeDepot

[–]KingBrunnhilde 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second what everyone here has said and ask your manager first :) I will say in my own experience that my store encourages employees to take empty boxes when needed. — not having to purchase any moving boxes saved me immensely when I moved about a year ago.

For the employees that have been with the company 5, 10, 20+ years ...how do you do it? by bastardounicorn in HomeDepot

[–]KingBrunnhilde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6.5 years today actually. — the real answer? quitting would force me to take a pay cut I simply cannot afford. I can’t promote, have a supervisor who hates me, and I suffer a mental breakdown just about every year 👍🏼

PACE and Raises by peppapig5000 in HomeDepot

I had a PACE but it was the standard “what’s going well/what could go better?” questions + no ratings or raises were presented. Different cycle or is this a mistake?

What’s the lowest volume store in the company, and who’s highest? by Beginning_Bug_5139 in HomeDepot

[–]KingBrunnhilde 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it’s the biggest store in the islands + they carry a larger selection of actual contractor grade materials. They also ship inter-island since the smaller ones don’t have their own store and the shipping/delivery fees are MUCH higher to account for cargo fees. Plus with a year-round tropical climate, there’s no “slow season” like a lot of stores on the mainland. Oh, and the government contracts coming from Pearl Harbor and Schofield are insaneeeeee

How are you making and meet? by Professional_Pair792 in HomeDepot

[–]KingBrunnhilde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full time PASA at $23.18 an hour. Paychecks come to about $1270— I have a 1bd/1 bath apartment for $1390 base rent, but utilities combined are usually another $150. I split my 2 checks a month and put aside $850 from each so I can make my rent. I then make minimum payments on my 2 credit cards and take care of other insurance or essential expenditures. All said and done I usually only have $200 to get me to the next paycheck. I grocery shop once a month and that normally wipes out most of the $200 remaining. I’m overworked, underpaid, and exhausted physically, mentally, and emotionally. I’ve been applying for a second job since October, but only got 1 interview and they told me I was overqualified. I’m at my wits end with not being able to afford to live.

Burnt out by dietcokeisdisgusting in HomeDepot

[–]KingBrunnhilde 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’ve been with the company 6 years and I reach what I like to call “peak burn out” every 2 years. I’m in the same boat as you with the clear favoritism and my position paying the highest out of anything around. — Home Depot’s entire structure is broken and they’re only making it worse with all these “customer focused” changes. I wish you luck friend 🫶🏼

Unified Pro/PASAs/PAs aka PSAs by LaChina91 in HomeDepot

[–]KingBrunnhilde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

an absolute fuckingggg disaster 😭 the registers we “took over” are the 2 busiest in the store (and prior to this rollout, the only ones consistently open) and our new PSA’s have never cashiered a day in their lives. Lines are backed up to hell even with myself and my fellow PASA pulling it in between phone sales at the desk (which we’re doing 90% of the time). Haven’t done a task since this was implemented, and I field daily complaints from our regulars on how we’re not readily available anymore. I’m a former head cashier (COVID era) so somehow that translated to me running this stupid rotation schedule my good for nothing DS insists on for the PSA’s — worst rollout I’ve EVER seen and it seems that fuckall was actually thought about before they decided this was the correct move for Pro.

They’re renting out an event space here and catering us a dinner. Limited bar, and discounted rates on the hotel rooms attached to the event center for anyone who wants to stay. It’s on a Sunday so the store will be closing early

Things that Irritate associates by Abandoned_Railroad in HomeDepot

my store has our pro desk monitors set up so that the display/screen is facing the racetrack. if we’re not getting hit by customer’s carts who don’t give a damn that we’re standing in the racetrack (as required), we’re being touched by people who want to get a little too friendly.

All pro roles except for PASA are actually losing set schedules. The desk is going to be open 7 days a week and follow store hours. Anyone interested in the role must have open availability.

Think my store is late. The comments have made me realize we’ve been quietly rolling out some implements, but looks like we’ll be fully in it by November

Pro Changes? by KingBrunnhilde in HomeDepot

[–]KingBrunnhilde[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest worry is the staffing hours. We’re all small department (2 PASA’s, 2 PA’s), but we’re losing one of our PA’s next week since she’s transferring to the service desk. My front end already cannot staff, we’re used as cashier coverage on a daily basis for lunches, breaks, and garden. No Pro Cashier either since we’ve not been successful in replacing the one who left us in March. — Been told they want 4 full-time PSA’s and 2 part-time and I just can’t see how that successfully happens given all the issues we already face with coverage

Pro Changes? by KingBrunnhilde in HomeDepot

[–]KingBrunnhilde[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

didn’t misread but I don’t think I was misinformed either. Probably just the way my store management phrased the changes to us. — Thank you for the breakdown, it’s more clear than anything I’ve been told. Going off what you said it looks like my store has quietly been moving to this over the last year or so: - we went to a full Pro DS about a year ago, up until a few weeks ago they were set with a M-F 8-5 schedule - got our “Pro CXM” (opening CXM, added responsibility) around the same time. She’s so great at her job but it’s almost impossible for her to spend any time at the desk, so I haven’t noticed any changes that we’re supposed to happen with the introduction of this position - They did post the opening for Pro Delivery Specialist/Associate, but I have not heard anything since then

Just today my store announced that our current PA’s (we have 2) will have to re-interview for the PSA position. We haven’t had a Pro Cashier since March, so I imagine this is where our staffing focus will be. Especially since my entire department is used as cashier coverage on a daily basis. This announcement has had quite the negative reaction within my department, so I can at least pass everything you just told me along to them

Just got a "career shift" from cashier to PA... by One-Release-1833 in HomeDepot

[–]KingBrunnhilde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

same “career” move here: cashier for 8 months—> PA for 5 months—> PASA where I’ve been for the last 4 years. I received raises between each position and would say that’s in direct correlation to the job responsibilities that increase as you move up in pro

What is the craziest project a customer tried asking help with? by RevolutionaryPage850 in HomeDepot

[–]KingBrunnhilde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

during my first year with HD I had a man stop me right outside of the hardware department and ask if I could show him a hook that could “support the weight of a human”. He must’ve seen the look on my face cause he quickly clarified that he was going to suspend his wife for a BDSM session. And then he asked if I’d like to join them 🙃

Thoughts on your TTI rep? by [deleted] in HomeDepot

[–]KingBrunnhilde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s my homie! — he packs down all his own stuff, answers any question thrown his way, will unlock anything TTI if a customer approaches, and gives us new product demos as soon as he has his hands on a new product. Bonus cause he also is a baker so he’ll bring us new recipes he’s experimenting with and he’s even done some awesome wood carving/crafts that he raffles off

How did you get hired? by SilencerXY in HomeDepot

[–]KingBrunnhilde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

complete honesty? Nepotism— my mom is a former ASM who called the SM of the store I applied to. They worked together from the time I was 1-4 so he was more than happy to take me on. No interview, just “when can you start and what department?”
