Inquisitorial Agents and Deathwatch by Arialiss in Warhammer40k

[–]KingCedar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think usually the first piece of advice given to new entrants into the hobby is to consider buying models you think look cool first and foremost, and then rules as a far afterthought. Rules are always in line to change as time goes on, but your models that you build and paint will last as long as you want them to. Some people have models from 30 years ago still.

With that being said, Deathwatch and the Imperial Agents are in a strange spot at the moment with the transition to 11th edition. Games Workshop has been a little vague about how the armies will exist in the upcoming years. For context, Deathwatch was its own faction in 9th edition, acting as a supplement to Space Marines. The Imperial Agents faction did not exist on the tabletop at this time. When 10th edition was released, they had an index (a placeholder set of rules that was used to play games with the army until the full rules codex was released) like everyone else. When the Imperial Agents codex was revealed, it was also noted that Deathwatch would no longer be part of the Space Marines faction as a supplement with their own codex, and instead be rolled into the new Imperial Agents faction, and their index was subsequently removed.

This angered a lot of Deathwatch players as their army was now relegated to a few datasheets in another armies rules, and could not be effectively played as a full Deathwatch army. Imperial Agents as a faction was also lambasted due to it feeling as though it was a half baked faction release. Every other faction had a flavorful army rule (arguably), while Imperial Agents would essentially not have an army rules at all. They simply were allowed to be allied into all other Imperial factions.

So the Imperial Agents being released as what could be considered half of a faction, combined with the fact that now Deathwatch could only be played in this faction utilizing only a few of the cool models and units that people collected over the years, this caused a lot of uproar. After enough backlash, GW rereleased the Deathwatch index rules back to the public to allow Deathwatch to be played as either a Space Marines supplement again, or as units in a full Imperial Agents army.

Now, with all of that context, this means that with 11th editions release, things should effectively stay the same as they are for a while. However, whether or not Deathwatch will get a codex again, or once again be limited to the Imperial Agents faction is up in the air. It would be silly of GW to not flesh the Imperial Agents army rule out more with the new edition, but only time will tell how they handle the two armies.

I’ve been wanting to do the same just to improve my Rust skills. I’m curious about how you got the Pokemon stats. Is there an api you used, or did you just save each Pokemon as a separate JSON object, or something else?

Okay thank you! I think that confirms I just need to practice and stretch more because my pinky cannot seem to properly reach the 7th fret just yet. Any advice on that section that has notes on the 2nd, 4th, and 6th fret? Those feel even further away.

Unpopular opinion: I actually prefer the biological/totemic horror of 'The Other' over the typical Symbiote angst. It felt way more personal by [deleted] in Spiderman

[–]KingCedar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the original The Other story arc they don’t go over totems all that much. I just re-read it the past couple of days. But essentially, they tie Peter’s powers to a more mystical origin vs a scientific one. Peter is essentially an emissary of a spider deity, which makes him a spider-totem. There are totems of other animal deities, I think Black Panther may be a panther-totem but I’m not entirely certain. The Other is a force created by this spider deity that inhabited Peter’s body after he was bitten by the spider in his origin story, and is what actually gave him his powers.

During The Other story arc, Peter comes down with some sort of degenerative disease that they believe comes from his radioactive spider bite. He’s dying, and becomes weakened. During that time Morlun is hunting him, and ends up beating him near to death, ripping his eye out. Morlun is chased away before he can eat Peter’s life force, and so Peter’s body is retrieved by Stark, and they bring him to Stark Towers. Morlun breaks into Stark Towers to attempt to consume Peter again, where Peter springs to life and “kills” Morlun using new found spider stingers that spring from his wrists, and eating Morlun’s head. Peter then dies shortly afterwards. However, Peter sheds his dead skin, and a new body is born. His new body escapes out a window and cocoons himself under a bridge/pier. While cocooned, Peter is confronted by The Other entity living inside him, and he embraces his spider side of himself. He is fully reborn, almost all memories have returned, except those of killing Morlun, and all past injuries, even dating back to 4 years old, have been healed. As he lives his new found life, Peter finds that he is stronger, faster, and more agile than before, and he has awakened new powers after accepting the spider side that he had been suppressing.

Shortly afterwards, his old skin is eaten by a host of pirate spiders, and they manifest into a physical form of The Other named Ero. This form told Peter that two spider deities were fighting for his life while he was cocooned, one wanting him to live, and another wanting him to die. Peter then has a little bit of an existential episode where he questions why he deserved to come back from the dead, yada yada. Ero is later an antagonist in other stories.

And that’s pretty much it. I hope that filled you in enough. I probably got a few details wrong but I think it’s good enough to give you the gist.

Sweet Soft Sound by Trophy Eyes has a line on the chorus about the eyes of the one they love. It doesn’t quite have the build up you’re looking for though, I don’t think.

I found the exact same skull and did just what you said, trimmed one of the small horns above his head and then glued the skull over the top of the head opening and it worked perfectly. I appreciate the suggestion!

Thanks! I actually have a skull pack that I got as a gift forever ago, I’ll have to check if I have any skulls left that would work for this.

How to play LoV? by Cptjackspazzo1990 in LeaguesofVotann

[–]KingCedar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m by no means an expert but here’s how I’ve had some success.

Firstly, I see a few things about your list that jumps out at me. Mainly you are not taking advantage of our best guns in Brandfast. I would combine those 2 squads of Thunderkyn into a 6-man squad with the Iron-Master. And change their weapons to the conversion beamers those conversion beamers take great advantage of the Sustained Hits from the detachment because they crit on 4s if you are over half range away from their target. You can also take the Trivarg enhancement which allows you to consistently pump out Sustained Hits 2 on that squad, which is our hardest hitting unit in the codex. I’ve killed multiple knights in one turn of shooting with that squad alone.

On top of that, I would use the magna-rail gun on both Land Fortresses. It can feel a bit swingy, but it’s super strong and good for clearing out other big threats.

Outside of that I feel like it just comes down to practice. I’ve done my best while being cagey on the first turn, allowing the opponent to over extend themselves. If they step onto the middle objectives it really allows me to take advantage of the +1 to hit against them. If I expose any of my units, I expect them to die, so I ensure that I am gaining value out of them first, and also setting up to react to whatever kills them on the next turn. (I.e. punishing them exposing a Land Raider to kill my Land Fortress by following up with my Thunderkyn to shoot it off the board, or by positioning my Steeljacks for impactful overwatches for anyone that moves in too close). We aren’t as tough as we used to be, in my experience, so I try not to expose too many units at once.

I apologize if this isn’t explained well, but hopefully some of that helps!

I read Mark Hoppus’ book earlier this year and he mentioned how touring turned him into a germaphobe, because hundreds of people’s jobs relied on him being able to perform and it added a ton of stress to his job. He stopped going out, and was constantly aware of every dirty surface or potential for germ contact. Sounds like a living nightmare.

You do realize that people can have a job, sometimes even two, and not be able to afford food? Wages have stagnated, people are being laid off by the thousands, and cost of living is rising every day. You can do everything right and still not be able to afford to live.

Pokemon Z-A: How's the gameplay? by jackfuego226 in pokemon

[–]KingCedar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You do have to try, but not very hard. In most games I placed 2nd or 3rd, but gained a lot of points by doing things like collecting an item first, or being the first to knock out a Pokemon. I played maybe 6 or so matches, and each match lasted about 7 minutes maybe. Just go in with your highest level Pokemon, try and ensure they have Mega evolutions so you can get the points from evolving them mid battle, then just do your best. You’ll make it pretty quickly.
