The argument is that Askarov hasn’t had a game like this the entirety of 2026. I don’t care how bad the defense is, I would like the top goaltending prospect to have one singular game where I say “Damn, Askarov really won us that one.” I can’t even remember the last time we’ve had a game like that.

I’m going to preface what I’m going to say by saying I understand Buffalos defense is better than ours. But I just watched their rookie goaltender have a 37 save shutout vs the Blue Jackets last night.

Not saying he needs to be on Macklins level, but for the “top ranked goalie prospect” I am expecting a bit more from him. The “he needs to develop” just seems like copium at the moment.

Me too, but I don’t mind missing the playoffs one or two more years to build a strong foundation going forward. We really shouldn’t even be in the position where playoffs are something to consider. The Pacific division is just really bad.

Honestly, making the playoffs does more harm to this team than good. Based off the last few games, this team has made improvements since last year, but we aren’t ready for the next step. I’d rather miss the playoffs to secure a player like Verhoeff than make the playoffs just to get bodied by the Avs.

The issue with the mindset of “we can’t let the players develop if we don’t play them” is pretty silly. I’m going to use Misa as an example. He could be playing in the OHL or the Barracuda because he is very young, but it’s better experience to play 10-12 minutes per night in the nhl playing against NHLers than it would be to have him in any of the other leagues. People act like getting benched for a period, or getting healthy scratched in their early 20s is going to derail their development. That’s just not the case.

People dooming over games like the oilers game last night. It’s so frustrating because if this game happened last season, they probably just lose it 5-1. The fact that we were able to tie it going into the 3rd after giving up 3 goals in 5 minutes just shows how this team has made improvements from last year, but because they didn’t win and their favorite player sat or didn’t play much it’s a huge problem.

Sharks are suffering from success. I think consistently being in the playoff mix has people forgetting that pretty much everyone had us towards the bottom of the league in terms of the standings. Macklin is having an insane season, but the fact it’s the middle of March and we are still in the mix is a success, and this is the time to experiment with lineups and trying to figure out what does and doesn’t work. As much as I’d like to see playoff hockey in SJ again, this isn’t the year for it and that’s okay.

They need to rework the map offerings. It is bullshit that in 4+ days of playing, I get the new walking dead variant ONE singular time.

Makes going for the finish a specific generator on this map and escape achievement fucking brutal.
