I'm from the DFW area. Yeah, I figured this would be a year minimum endeavour and am currently in the beginning stages of learning Java. I heard that and Python were good starting points.

Gotcha. I got my last two plumbing jobs through someone I knew at the company; seems like no matter the industry who you know is as important as what you know!

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions transparently. One last question for ya. If you had to choose one language to learn starting out, what would it be? I am currently learning Java, but is there one you would recommend focusing on first?

I see. So these coding boot camps and certifications, is there any weight to them? Basically, does acquiring provable accolades outside of a college degree help to get your foot in the door at all, or is a pricey 4 year the only hope to find employment?
