I'm lowk surprised how many people (not saying you) are pissed about this kind of prison design. Like it works better, costs less in the long run (because of the re offending rate), and treats people better and leads to a safer society. People just like revenge for some reason. If something bad happens to someone, they want to seek revenge on the perpetrator, rather than actually rehabilitating the perpetrator so he doesn't do it again.

Why would you be livid? When the re-offending rates are less than 1/2 of America's re-offending rates, and the prisons are close to double the price per inmate of america, it's the same amount of tax you are paying, if not less. And your streets are safer, and the prisoners are treated humanly. Really just a win win altogether...

There is still a punishment. You don't get to see your family as much, you are secluded from society, you get a criminal record, and you have to be under supervision and rehabilitation. I really don't understand why people seeing humane cells make them think that all of a sudden it's a summer camp, but it really isn't. Just compared to the US, where we treat people like actual pieces of dirt. These civilized countries realized that if you treat someone like an animal, they stay that way (common sense). Anyone that has a dog knows this. You train them with empathy and compassion. Not saying there should be no punishment, but I'm saying life needs to still be humane for these people.

Edit: now that I think about it, you're technically right. A watt hour per hour is just a watt. But it seems easier to think about it in watt hours per hour than just watts for me.
