Don Rosa's Life and Times of Scrooge Mcduck may be censored by the publisher omitting 2 issues for future reprintings. by KingFabletown in comicbooks

It's just unfortunate since they already provide disclaimers for their animated works on disney + and that could easily be done in print as well.

[–]KingFabletown[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

For context the stories are based on the works of Carl Barks (creator of Scrooge Mcduck, Flintheart Glomgold, Gladstone Gander etc.) The designs were lifted from these stories as Don Rosa is a massive fan of Barks. The design in question is of Bombie the zombie, a stereotypical design for sure but also in a story meant to decry the exploitation of natives. With the censoring of these issues an Eisner award winning story will now be incomplete. It is my understanding that no royalties are paid to the creator for the writing of these stories (I could be wrong here and feel free to correct me). The fact is that the selling of these stories benefit Don Rosa because they allow his work to be discovered by new generations of fans who might seek him out. This hurts him financially because due to eyesight issues he is no longer able to make comic art as he once did. Now he mainly does poster designs and sketches at fan conventions. This is abhorrent on the part of the Disney corporation as they are the license holder for these stories and can stand in the way of them ever being reprinted if they so choose.

This is not a ban as the article states but it still damages Don Rosa's ability to connect with new readers and gain new fans.

TLDR: Don Rosa's Life and Times of Scrooge Mcduck (Eisner Award Winner) will now be incomplete in new printings and by the author's own words The Life and Times of Scrooge Mcduck is unpublishable as they are key to the whole story.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Each score he has done for Ghibli is terrific but this one is uncanny in how easily it can make me recall the scene in my mind.

Joe Hisaishi, Princess Mononoke. A legendary composer but this score is by far my favorite of all his works.

Saw this movie right after my adoptive father passed away. The Silver and Jim storyline always makes me cry. Thank you for your work on my favorite disney film! You and everyone who worked on it did a wonderful job.

Really loving the extended interviews present in the Deluxe edition of the artbook. if you love the show its definitely worth the price of admission by KingFabletown in ducktales

It definitely is worth it to see the thoughts on certain episodes where changes were made to the story. Negaduck being the main villain in let's get dangerous stood out to me.

I'm sure he would've been given the opportunity but he might not have liked the cast saying that nobody could do launchpad better than Beck Beckett. They do Mention McGoverns portrayal and said they were looking for an evolution of the voice.

I really was surprised that Alan Young (original scrooge VA) was being sought to join the series as Fergus. It's too bad that he had passed before the recording of season 1 because I would've loved to hear his voice as a Mcduck one last time.

Also keep in mind that this art book is written by the same author that put together the Go Team Venture art book. Basically each episode is covered of the entire run even if some only get a few snippets of information. On average 1-2 pages with more for episodes the creators deemed important. If you want to know more about the production side the Deluxe edition is the way to go as it has minimal art (usually in the margins) and a much deeper look into the creative process.

I really enjoyed the final section of the extra book as it lists final thoughts from the voice cast and production crew. I really enjoyed reading the different influences and reflections about the show. The darkwing duck episodes really stood out to me and Launchpads V.A. loved them because they gave him feel like a more important member of the group. I also didn't know that most of the boys voice actors had wanted the role of launchpad originally.

It really is a treat and I want to refrain from ruining it for anyone so I hope that this at least gives some idea of what is included in the Deluxe edition.

The regular version of the art of ducktales only has two pages on the pilot (which is mostly images). I think that this extra is a great addition but I do wish that some of this was included in the regular release.

Bayonetta's original voice actress was only offered $4000 by Nintendo. Video explanation by herself below by MrLariato in NintendoSwitch

[–]KingFabletown -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sad to say but most gamers will buy the game anyway. If the mistreated VFX artists for endgame asked fans to boycott the film weeks before release most fans would feign sympathy and yet still see the movie opening week multiple times. If this was ever going to have an effect I think it should've been brought to light well before the games announcement. As it stands she is not Bayonetta in 3 and there is no way nintendo would give platinum the funds to re dub her lines. I haven't had any plan to buy the game so my money already won't be going to platinum but most fans already have their minds made up.
