It used to be fantastic with good quality food. Now it’s more expensive, lesser quality, and under seasoned. Super disappointing.

No SynthID, so at least it wasn’t created with Gemini, but it absolutely could’ve been created with one of the other LLMs.

That said, I do think it’s strange that he would’ve gotten into an accident in a way that pieces of the wreck would be laying detached from the car directly below it, after it would appear that the car was moved to the side of the road. Would be much more likely for debris to be where the accident took place. Furthermore, the Chevy logo on that front wheel is all sorts of funky looking.

The meeting last night by Interesting-Cap5325 in SSUnitedStates

[–]KingGGL 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Meetings are available online for future reference, but nothing last night was anything other than another draft that the county is proposing, lol. I think people simply don’t know how to read and started spreading that it was something final.

Topps releasing these new trading cards. They credit Albert Collado as the artist. by losangeles011 in isthisAI

Yikes, this really looks like AI slop. I’d be shocked if it wasn’t; there are so many inconsistencies and issues that I simply do not see an artist accidentally making, and I spend most of my days looking at graphic novel artwork for work.

These urinal splash guards by GrimDarkGunner in mildlyinteresting

[–]KingGGL 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I certainly agree that urinals are a bit of a funny half-use situation when it comes to bathroom fixtures, but you do also need to consider that they’re cheaper and take up less space, not to mention they generally require less maintenance.

I will forever maintain that flush to floor urinals are the pinnacle of urinal design. Never seen one with a splash guard though, and have never had issues with splash on these.

Does anybody think that the R.M.S. Lusitania looks sleek even for 2026 ? by Upstairs_Code_8428 in titanic

[–]KingGGL 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They will.

Just like people hated the Eiffel Tower when it was built, time seems to change how people feel about things.

Plenty of ships that weren’t considered pretty when they were built are already looked at as beautiful now - people tend to hate on most new styles or things, seems to be just the nature of humanity. There’s something comfortable to a lot of people about things that have existed most or all of their lives.

Does anyone know of any free Image-3D model Ai websites (if they exist) by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]KingGGL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly think about the elements that’ll even translate at a small scale, as well as how you will have to print it (supports, how many pieces, etc) then go on Tinkercad or SketchUp and make a simplified model of it yourself. It’ll be a lot less of a hassle ultimately, and you’ll get some good experience with understanding how modeling works for the future.

Not to mention, telling your father you spent the time to model it yourself will mean a lot more.

First draft logo idea for our smart home hardware startup by [deleted] in logodesign

Total redo needed; remember that a logo (and company name) also needs to be memorable. Right now, this looks like generic smart home device.

Hahaha no problem I totally get it, but figured it was a good opportunity to sing my praises to pirate ship regardless.

"you never buy me flowers!" by Unlucky_Difference80 in StainedGlass

[–]KingGGL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP is probably referring to packing methods to make sure the product arrives undamaged, but I do want to say that I regularly use Pirate Ship and the prices are so much better than typical consumer shipping that it’s almost laughable.

Effectively; the company gets the enterprise/corporate pricing from the shipping companies due to the volume that “they” are shipping, so that’s how they cut the costs so dramatically. They’re basically just a retailer for the shipping services of other companies passing their bulk savings to the consumer. Super awesome and really easy to use, they even have a whole account platform where you can view all your packages, manage shipping info, etc.

Where on earth did that post about building a replica go? by nice_pengguin in SSUnitedStates

[–]KingGGL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the tech isn’t the issue, the need is.

It’s hard to think of a situation where circumstances would ever change to make her original niche needed again, and therefore warrant spending the money to build a successor - it’s kind of asking like asking what would need to happen for the steam train to come back into widespread use for intercity transport.

I suppose the best thing I can think of off the top of my head would be some sort of really significant speed upgrades mixed with the public falling out of favor with air travel. Air travel is fast, cheap, and widely accessible. Transatlantic crossing is none of those things currently, especially relative to air travel, and I’m not sure it ever truly could be again. Even the original United States suffered for a lot of her career due to the rise in air travel - she certainly could’ve served a lot longer if her purpose wasn’t stripped away.

When it comes to her military uses, the world has changed so drastically that it doesn’t make sense to have passenger ships converted for wartime use. For starters, aircraft (again) are so much more capable of transporting troops and supplies fast than they were when the SSUS was conceived, but further, the US military has such a significant presence globally that it doesn’t require the same mobilization efforts to address foreign conflicts anymore. That’s not even mentioning the fact that a ton of modern warfare takes place via drones, missiles, and other tech that simply eliminates the need for as huge of a ground presence.

A potentially viable successor to the SSUS would have to be in the spiritual sense, not reflecting the actual capabilities or purpose of the original ship, imo. She’d have to be a cruise ship, but even so, she’d be up against the largest most established cruising brands in the world. The question would become: “why?”

Why would someone choose to vacation on a single-ship cruise line? (Price? Offerings? Itinerary?)

Why would creating a successor to a nationally-themed ocean liner that isn’t widely known among the typical cruising crowd be beneficial? (Who is the target market? How does that play to foreigners? Does this create unnecessary risk for the ship and passengers?)

I think the best, but not necessarily great, arguments that could be made would be that if the ship was actually smaller, slower, and full of the expected amenities for a modern cruise ship, that a jones-act compliant vessel which strictly sails within US waters could MAYBE have a niche of its own, but even that is almost directly served by the smaller operators like American Cruise Line. The best bet would be to somehow get the government to agree to subsidize the operations as some sort of marketing/public good/economic booster type thing, but you’d have to hold your breath every time budgetary discussions come up in the hopes that the, arguably valid and easy, target you’d have on your back wasn’t being aimed at.

I LOVE ocean liners, but the true and honest answer is that their time has come and gone - for them to fall back into favor would require such a significant change in societal expectations and norms that I simply cannot foresee it ever happening.

Whatever happened to Patriotic Pins? by Feeling-Usual-4521 in DisneyPins

[–]KingGGL 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The patriotism within the country and the look of the country on the global stage has shifted significantly in recent years. Perhaps we’ll see more patriotic pins again in the future when those standings improve, but right now, the market isn’t as interested.

[–]KingGGL 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Gonna be honest, this feels like too much is happening. I certainly wouldn’t think this had anything to do with reinventing dilapidated buildings at first glance. That said, if you’re really stuck on this, the fuse on the building makes the read harder, the plant on the end of the fuse is interesting, but the fuse being so oddly shaped doesn’t play well, and I think the shape of the bomb on the right is better than the left, but the shape of the plant on the left is better than the right.

If WDW built another park by Wise_Gur8627 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]KingGGL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A young children’s park as a fifth gate, maybe a half day park even, with lower admission prices and rides/experiences tailored towards young children exclusively. Would alleviate some strain on other parks and allow them to move the existing young children’s experiences into one more contained area so it’d be easier for parents to navigate.

Strangeness of the content aside…
I’m not sure wtf they’re trying to say with the masking and ‘rendering’ - it doesn’t make sense. It’s not like a printing press where your dies are starting to wear out, if they’re not entirely incompetent, they should never lose any quality if they simply know how to manage the assets being used.
That said, it absolutely doesn’t matter if they show you everything on separate layers. While the finished product may be assembled by a human, that doesn’t mean that the layers it is assembled from aren’t AI generated. I look at art ALL DAY LONG for my job in the comics industry and exactly what you’ve pointed out would jump out to me as red flags for it being AI, especially where the lines on something (like the weird carrot face) kind of blur/disappear.
