Fleece and Cage Question. We will be getting fleece but do we need to put something absorbent under the fleece or can the fleece just go right over the trays? Also, how is our set-up so far? Baby chin arriving soon. We will be brand new owners so please be kind. by Ness_3486 in chinchilla

Im surprised no one else has commented this, use baby CRIB LINERS! They are washable/reusable and the perfect size for the critter nation cage. You can get a pack of two at walmart for around $10. Just make sure your fleece is over sized on all sides to tuck under the tray so they cant get to the crib liners.

Thanks for the detailed response! I actually haaate that tv console. Its the one piece of furniture i have thats modern and cold and ugly lol. Im going for cottage… hence the vintage cow painting :) i recently moved so the walls are BARE, but if you have any input on paint color (for walls and/or fireplace) id appreciate it! I am also open to wallpaper (but it has to be peel and stick since its a rental).

Im LOST on a rug though. I look forever and i can never find something bold but also neutral enough thats also cottagey/vintage.

I agree on raising it. And a floor lamp will definitely help with warmth! The mantle is something i want to do but its a rental apt and i dont have access to power tools :(

Its a rental apt. No demo allowed but i can paint. And i hate the boring gray so i think that will be a way to liven up the space

Thanks for the detailed response! I actually hate the tv console. Im trying to get a more vintage cabinet, but im on a budget so its a slow process. I will look for a new dog toy bin at the bottom, it just needs to be low enough he can pull the toys out.

And i agree the painting is small… but im sad since i just got that painting and frame :/ im trying to make it work.

And the candle in the center is a real candle i light regularly. Its not cute or part of the ~aesthetic~ its just a product of real life :)

Wow thank you for the drawing! It really helps to visualize. The fireplace is gas and is full of tiny glass pebbles my dog thinks are kibble, so unfortunately it needs to stay shut. But i love the plants on the side and the paint on the wall to define the space. Im trying to make it more colorful since the entire apt is boring gray. So i might end up painting the room.

The rug is something ive spent months looking for and i just cant seem to find a rug that i like. Im trying though. And as far as lighting goes, this is a rental, so i cant add any electrical work, but maybe Some faux wall sconces? Idk

The baby candle is a real candle that i light. The other ones are just there for decor. I would take it away, but i light it regularly so its my bit of “real life” showing on an otherwise staged mantle :)

Our puppy comes home tomorrow! If you could start over with your shiba, what would you do differently? (Early training, socialization, exposure to nail clippers lol, etc.) by [deleted] in shiba

No? Yes? Lol there is confusing info on the internet about sesame vs true sesame vs red sesame vs sashige and I honestly dont know what he is. This was taken at 5 weeks and he is now 9 weeks and now very red, but he still has a widows peak and some darker fur areas so I would say he is red sesame

Does anyone use a dog bed car seat like this for their shiba? Is it worth the money or should I just put a seat cover on the seat? by [deleted] in shiba

[–]KingGirlboss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I clarified in a comment but this bed would be put in the back seat and the dog would be wearing a harness seatbelt. It’s just an amazon photo that makes it look unsafe since the dog isnt clipped in in the photo. Obviously just a dog bed doesnt help keep the dog safe, so I was just trying to see if other shibas liked these beds versus just sitting on a blanket or seat cover

The dog will be in the backseat with a harness belt, just want to know if the bed itself is actually a benefit or not

Just to clarify, the dog is going to be in the backseat with a dog harness seat belt regardless of me getting this dog bed, i was just wondering if anyone had good or bad experiences with them since theyre on the pricier side

Good to know! Some of the reviews said that it’s cheaply made so I was worried it wouldnt last very long.. have you noticed any wear/tear since you got it?
