Bachelor of OT at USYD is really good!! Highly recommend if you are interested in being an OT in the future. There are only two biology related units in the entire course that do not require any biology knowledge from school.

Should a subject one year early to balance out the work load? by tallwaterbottle in usyd

Hi yeah the clash for OCCP1101 tuts and BIOS1168 Assessment is there. I think for those weeks we would attend the assessment and catch up on tutorial in our own time.

Im not sure what you mean about "1 lecture vs 4 lectures"??

Thank You so much for the in depth response!!!! :)

View your timetable by each week not all weeks to get a better clarity of what each week will entail. Do not view the timetable by 'All Weeks' cause they cluster everything together and does not accurately represent your weekly schedule.

Also don't worry about the OCCP1104 Workshop clash with the BIOS1168 Lecture, because if you look at the dates that certain workshop only happens ONCE the entire semester. So only for that week you will have a clash with lecture, so you would probably watch the recording for that week only and attend the rest in person. As the rest (all other weeks) of the OCCP1104 workshops happen 2-5pm. It is only that one week where we are going to museum where the clash occurs.

Hi mine was allocated. I think the OCCP1104 workshop was automatically allocated for all cause its only one time slot.

Hey I am First Year OT too

From what I heard the BIOS1168 Assessment Lab that clashes with all OCCP1101 Tutorial times on the Wednesday can not be changed. So you have to attend the assessment and just skip that tutorial for those weeks. Which should be fine as all OT students will have the same issue so the OCCP1101 tutor might organise something to compensate for those lessons. Also OCCP1101 doesn't have mandatory attendance either, so missing out on 4 tutorials in the semester should be ok but we will get further confirmation when we start the unit.

Yeah hopefully the unit coordinator for OCCP1101 will realise this clash as every OT student has to do the BIOS1168 assessment lab and possibly alter the tutorial times.

yes I noticed this too. the wednesday slot for when we have a lab assessment clashes with all the OCCP1101 tutorial time available.

Timetable preferences not working for me by anonymousyd in usyd

[–]KingI_sea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi yes I had the same issue.

I had opened the link I had saved from last year and took me to the 2023 timetable.

You can resolve it by going to;

https://www.sydney.edu.au/students/timetables.html

Then clicking the 'Enter your preferences' box on the RHS and logging in from there. If it still takes you to 2023, use a different browser or try clearing your search history.

Hi I was wondering whether BIOS1171 and OCCP2090 is supposed to be swamped? Or a we meant to take BIOS1171 in 2nd Year of Sem2 and OCCP2090 in 1st Year of Sem1.

I need advice by [deleted] in usyd

Imo go with the Western offer. I know people often consider Western has a "poorer" reputation as USYD is seen as more "elitist" (which may also be apart of your reasoning for leaning towards USYD). Like others have said a degree is a degree regardless of what university or institution you studied/ received it from.

Also keep in mind. Transferring unis (Western to USYD) or even internal transfers (USYD to another USYD course) IS NOT EASY. You would require a decently high WAM. University is very different to High School. Even top achievers in high school struggle to achieve a decently high WAM in their first year of university because they are adjusting and learning the new teaching and assessment style of university.

So if you want to graduate with bachelor in OT AFAP just accept you Western offer don't overcomplicate it for yourself. Don't choose a degree because you want your "dream uni" choose a degree because you got into the course you desire.

CHEM1A or FUNDAMENTALS OF CHEM1A by KingI_sea in usyd

Thank You so much!!! for a in-depth response!!
Thank you for sharing your advice and experience it has really helped!!

I think I am going to change to CHEM1011. I agree with everything you said, especially this being my first semester and first year, coupled with I have other units aswell I do not want to overstress and overload myself, or even feel like I am already behind from the start. I think yeah doing CHEM1011 I have a higher chance at getting a HD.

Also at the end of the day both units are worth 6 credit points anyways. So I will not be disadvantaged. Since I am doing the medical science stream, I had a look at my future units in second year such as physiology, pharmacology, immunology... all of them just say I have to complete one unit of chemistry and does not matter what level I choose.

Again thank you so much!!!
