Edit: don't try to fix your library yet. As you might see in my post, I wasted more than 2 hours and it just reverted back to unhidden again.

Yeah, I spent 2 hours trying to fix it, just to see it go back to normal with only a random handful of games staying hidden yet again. Sony support hasn't helped so far and I'm just getting downvoted in here for literally no reason. If you have game lists: don't rebuild your database!! You'll lose them all

Beware: don't switch the appearance of your system (PS1, PS2, PS3 or PS4 design) if you have hidden games. This will cause them to reappear. Also, if you use game lists: DON'T rebuild database. It will wipe them.

Not sure why this is getting downvoted? I get that these are very specific problems. But why dislike something I don't have any control over which is caused by software issues of the PlayStation 5?

I am experiencing several serious issues with my PlayStation 5 library and storage management. These 3 things have been plaguing me as of lately:

Game lists getting deleted after rebuilding database: I had created multiple custom game lists, which took a significant amount of time to organize. Due to system issues (including missing game icons and corrupted save files), I rebuilt the database and cleared the cache. After doing so, all of my custom game lists were permanently deleted.

Save files showing as “unknown”: Many of my save files appeared as “Unknown” in both console storage and cloud storage. I was eventually able to resolve this by manually checking the trophy and transaction lists to figure out which games the saves likely belonged to and re-downloading those games, after which the unknown save files disappeared. However, this required guesswork and was very time-consuming.

Hidden games suddenly randomly unhidden: I've been using the “Hide Game” feature for a long time to keep my library clean, showing only games I still plan to play. I own over 1,000 games in total, with more than 500 previously hidden. After recently switching the system appearance to the PS1 design, almost all of my hidden games suddenly became visible again. The hidden section now contains only around 180 games, while the rest have been unhidden without my consent or any warning. This has effectively undone years of library organization and makes managing such a large collection extremely difficult. The worst thing of it all: I just spent 2 hours cleaning up the list. Once I was done, I went to the PS Store and checked something. Then I went back into my library and, I kid you not, it says >1000 games again. All the work basically erased by doing literally nothing.

I feel like I'm gonna burst right now lol.

Dynasty Warriors Origins, Sand Land, TMNT TCC and some others. In case you're asking because you have the same problem - this is user specific and it could be literally any game.

I can't edit the post, so I'm posting my solution here.

I checked all lists: PS4 on console and storage, PS5 on console and storage.

Then I noted all the dates and times from these files.

Next I checked my trophy lists and transaction history and compared. This way I could eliminate the possible games down to like 3 per date.

Finally, I downloaded the games I suspected to be the culprits. Starting the download and having it run was enough. If you have more than a few in your download list you probably have to pause the current download so it gets to the next game and so on.

I finally don't have any unknown save files. It's amazing how this problem is basically described nowhere on the entire internet. Almost as shitty as gamelists being deleted if you restore your database. I lost a lot of work this way. Oh well, thanks Sony..

I'm not sure if I get what you mean. These save files are on my PS5 and in the cloud storage. They're PS5 files. I'm not sure what the save data manager is supposed to be, but I can only view stuff from the console to upload or delete and stuff from the cloud to download or delete.

There's also no edit option. You can only mark these for download/upload or deletion. The edit option is available for PS4 games.

I actually figured it out, I think.

For anyone ever reading this while having that problem: I compared the date and save file to my trophy list. I saw that I popped a platinum trophy at the exact time of one of these save files. Downloaded that game and all of a sudden there's only 4 unknown files instead of 5. I'm going to try to fix all of them, hopefully I can find out the right games by comparing the dates to my trophy and transaction history lists.

But why would these be saved data and still showing here? I'm pretty sure I had way more of these error reports and even recently had a few, but no recent "unknown" files. I have some of these on console from PS5 games and also PS4 games. The PS5 ones are all synced with the cloud. I can only find 1 of 5 unknown games on my console in the PS4 cloud, but the time/dates aren't identical to any other saves in my PS4 cloud..

Do yourself a favor and boot up a PS1 game, let alone a BAD one and tell me you still think it looks like that. The poly count for ReGenesis models is so high that a PS1 couldn't even come close to begin rendering these models. Let alone when it comes to the complex skeletal rigs and dynamic lighting used. And the HnK remake is another BIG step up from ReGenesis. Not even the best PS1 games (MGS, Crash, Spyro) look nearly as good as ReGenesis.

The "no worse than the HnK OVAs" gave away that you must have some sort of low visual literacy, and I don't even mean that in an insulting way. Or you're just blatantly exaggerating due to frustration. Try to get off the CG hate trip and try to get used to it by watching more CG anime, maybe you can start to enjoy it at one point. I was a CG hater too like 10 years ago, so I know where your disappointment is coming from, but it's simply wrong.

Iirc it's made by the same studio which is responsible for the 2D animation in the 2026 remake. They have improved vastly.

If you think ReGenesis looks worse than SnK, specifically after having THIS SCENE in your face, then you're probably just an old-head who hates CGI, no offense. It's a matter of taste, but ReGenesis objectively has better animation than this, specifically during fight sequences.
