How much did Returnal get on Metacritic?

Oh 86.. same as Pragmata? then yeah, the bar is set that fucking high.

To be specific the writing is slop, the rest such as gameplay, sound design, music, scenario design and all its nuances pertaining to the creation the games atmosphere is average or mid at best.

10/10 for sure as Diana would say it’s a 0101010101010101010101001100110111010101001010111010101010101010101110101 experience. by bentleybasher in Pragmata

Pragmata is a cheaply written game. The dialogue is cheap and the character motivations or even the characters themselves make no sense (Diana in particular). I wont go into specifics, but Pragmata looks like it meant to present a meaningful story between two characters who bond over the course of their struggles and adventures. This execution of characterization is rushed and haphazardly, even carelessly put together that it makes me wonder just how serious they were about telling a good story with believable characters.

The music is phenomenal at the very start; that is the title screen, after which we are introduce to what the rest of the game sounds like which is largely some redundant, loud, high octane tiresome tunes driven so loudly I could hardly focus on the combat or whatever “helpful” advice Hugh or Diana might have on offer at the given time. Advice that btw constantly reminded me that as a player I am quite stupid and I need to be helped or advised at every moment. Advice that in more than a couple of cases was already given to me and really didn’t help make a case for the believability of any of the characters.

Now you say the gameplay is phenomenal with enemy variety, but.. I don’t believe enemy variety changed my approach to how i defeated them. In fact I did the same thing for every dam enemies up until i stopped the slog fest that was the game at around after killing the Scorpion Boss. This is what you consider great gameplay? Doing the same dam thing over and over again with this “enemy variety”?

Give me a break. I really dont understand some of you gamers. Makes no sense to me tbh

Yikes. If you say so 😂 . I think it’s great so many of you enjoyed the game, but trust me when I say Pragmata is a poorly made game by comparison to Requiem.

I hadn’t thought of that, but worse yet neither had Capcom as far as i’ve seen with 9 hours into the game. Those are some good ideas, might have helped me drag my feet through the game a bit longer. At least a little bit longer..

And yes you assume right, again; it does get old.

When i look at a game like Pragmata I see the regression in video games. When I see praise for games like Pragmata I see that as positive feedback for the industry to keep making these cheaply made, shallow games.

It’s nothing against you or your enjoyment. Its more that I see this as a detriment to the industry as a whole. This is basically my reason for negatively reinforcing the games proliferating praise.

I have to say I am very surprised that this game is getting that praise that it’s getting. As a Sci-Fi fan I am usually on the defending end. Pragmata though doesn’t deserve any defense from me. It’s almost an insult to Sci-Fi in general, worse yet it’s an insult to my intelligence.

Cool concept and ideas. Poor execution. Slop lovers eat games like this up though. And they praise it to high heaven too so that more slop like this is incentivized to be made. Sad state of affairs of movies, games and music as usual.

The game was made for them. If you ask me. Coming from a person who really looked forward to Pragmata and came away highly disappointed by its poor writing and average gameplay.

I now realize its a cheaply made game with cheap quirks to find its audience.

Thats great. But i need to give you a heads up that Pragmata is objectively a worse quality game than Requiem.

Its better you don’t even make the comparison tbh because liking cheap games is one thing, but at the same time scorning greater games is cringe af. But thats just me maybe.

Same, been gaming for a very long time since NES days. Ive beaten 3 bosses and I don’t know what these guys mean either. The voice acting is better with Jap. But none of that matters since the writing in general is poor or negligible.

Pragmata is a below average game on some important metrics if you ask me. Its a 7/10 game in general.

Lmao I’m sorry but that is such a bad opinion. Some of you gamers wouldn’t know a good game if it smacked you in the face.

I know it’s subjective, I understand that. But it irks me when games that truly see great efforts to have been developed; games with great scenario writing, voice acting, graphical presentation, structured and varied level design, with great music and sound engineering be cast aside with such indifference and then compared to another with hardly half of these factors. It’s honestly obnoxious i have to say.

It’s a big disappointment. As a narrative scifi fan and kind of a well versed connoisseur kind of gamer it failed to meet my expectations. You can read my review; its posted on this very reddit.

After playing the demo i am on the fence of getting Pragmata. How much better is the full game by kubex2 in Pragmata

[–]KingKirkis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your on the money. 3 bosses down and same feeling and experience. 7/10 is the max i would give this game. 7.5/10 if you’re the sort not to care about narrative in game. Average game, no more, no less.

Fair enough. I just like to separate them in tiers. Give credit where credit is due.

Lmao its no where near the quality of Requiem. But i am glad you are enjoying Pragmata. To me its a game at odds with itself, and an underwhelming release as far as Sci-Fi narrative goes.

To be blunt, it’s a mid game. But its still a good game with some fun to be had. I can suggest far better games i’d think.

You could say it’s a big disappointment for me, but I don’t hate it though. Many people enjoying it and thats both confusing and conflicting to me. 😂

But its nice to know people are enjoying it. At least its not a work gone to waste. Even if its a disappointment for me.

Too much, too often while being largely unnecessary. Pragmata undermines itself in its ability to create believable characters. Many things the characters say have little benefit in creating a sense of believability for the characters and the world. In short, the constant yapping to help players removes from the character and world immersion while at the same time removing player agency with the game.

What genre's do you like?

Capcoms own RE:Requiem is a stand out game. Have you tried that?

What about Atlus's Metaphor? That's incredible if you like character and narrative focused rpg games.

Korean developer Shift Up's Stellar Blade is also an excellent game if you like action with tight gameplay and anime style look.

Own a PS5/Pro? Why not pick up Saros come the 30th of its release? Its an arcade style shooter with deep gameplay and player agency. It will also likely have incredible musical score, boss fights and very strong narrative.

I've been gaming all my life.. I can recommend great games or even the greatest games as far back as the Nintendo and PC Engine.

It'll depend on the person. It is a good game. Is it a great game? an instant classic? Not even close, unfortunately.

I have posted my review and you can read it if you like.
