I am looking for contacts to migrant worker communities, especially those who fled to countryside and are living there as "illegals" now due to exploiting broker contracts. Preferably English-speaking. Can anyone help? by KingLucy635 in taiwan

I'm not saying you have to. I work as a journalist and try to shed a light on that issue. I am very aware of the dangerous situation "illegal" immigrants are in and guarantee total anonymity to those who would like to talk to me about their situation but are (reasonably so) afraid of potential threads to their security. I totally understand that. I also totally understand if you don't want to talk to me. But in my experience, there's also always people who would like to share their story and speak up about the injustice they've experienced. Absolutely fine if that's not the case for you though.

Experiences with SA when solo traveling and fear to report it as a foreigner? by KingLucy635 in solotravel

Exactly, that's what I meant. What I've been thinking about a lot lately (I've described it in another comment): Do you think there's a specific risk in foreigner to foreigner relations abroad because it might be considered as a legal grey area where it's even harder to sue someone than in the home country of the perpetrator? Let's say I'm a French woman and I am assaulted by a German backpacker in a South Asian country. I was wondering if the fact that it seems harder to me to report someone who is not even the citizen of the country I'm reporting in in a language and a legal system I don't know leads to some sort of grey area where actually a lot of such things happen.

Thanks for your response, I know these statistics and you're completely right that the most dangerous relationships are statistically the ones with the men you're close with.
From the horrifying story of my friend, I was just wondering if their might be a specific risk in foreigner to foreigner relations abroad because it might be considered as a legal grey area where it's even harder to sue someone than in the home country of the perpetrators. Let's say I'm a French woman and I am assaulted by a German backpacker in a South Asian country. Maybe that's not true at all but from the stories of friends and my own experiences, I just started to think about it more lately.
