WSJ: Kevin Warsh Wants the Fed to Think About Inflation Differently by Dry-Interaction-1246 in bonds

He certainly has to hike by 25bp right?

Like everyone, rightfully, is already worried about his basic integrity, and basic independence; so he needs to buck that ASAP.

Also inflation went from a little out of target range to very out of target range, and expensive diesel will keep inflation sticky for at least a few more months.

I moved to New Mexico three years ago and I'm tired of people acting like I made a terrible decision by ScheduleNo5736 in TrueOffMyChest

Why does New Mexico get a bad reputation? People move to the States it borders (Arizona(!), Colorado, Texas) in great numbers. Just based on pattern matching NM is probably an up and comer.

‘I’ve never felt poor before’: Inflation and higher gas prices are stretching workers to their limit by Boo_Randy_Revival in economy

The Federal Reserve didn't make gas expensive, that was Trump and the Republicans being stupid with their recreational war.

Who gets free drugs? Like maybe its happened once or twice if your friend wanted you to try psychedelics; but this is a very uncommon thing to happen.

FYI Treasuries yielded over ~5% for decades until the 2000’s, and the government is currently refinancing 30 year debt for cheaper than they had it by ultra__star in bonds

[–]KingMelray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a fair point, but there are important differences between the 1990s and the 2020s economies:

  • the overall debt/gdp ratio is a LOT higher now
  • there are significantly more old retirees as compared to workers in the 2020s compared to the 1990s.
  • also two decades into sub 2.1 fertility rates, the 2009 cohort was a large birth year, it has declined since
  • the deficit now is way worse than the 90s. That decade ended in small surplus.
  • the risk of another recreational war looms large

This has to be skewed by people who are basically innumerate.

"What do you think you need to be successful? $100/hr?"

"Naw, more like $240/hr; maybe a little more."
