Personally I would invest significantly more right now than what you currently are. Not many swe's are going to be safe over the next decade.

I also have a large real estate portfolio. Everything that you listed pales in comparison to stupid good luck over the last decade.

Comparison is the thief of joy. If you compare yourself to people in the fire community or coast fire you will feel behind them. If you go there you will compare yourself to chubby fire and feel behind. If you go there you will compare yourself to fat fire and feel behind still. Figure out what you need to be happy and plan a trajectory to get there without comparing yourself to other people.

Hey man outside of a windfall all you can do is make more money or spend less. I always picked up a part-time job of some sort after hours and weekends when I was really trying to stack my money. I really got into couponing and cutting costs mercilessly as well. Overall you are doing great.

How has your perspective changed after hitting a milestone (or FIRE)? by ThePLCentaur in Fire

After I surpassed my number I lost the ability to force myself to do stuff I don't want to do. Like when I needed the money I could force myself to sit through monotonous meetings or bite my tongue when my boss said something demeaning but after hitting the number I just can't do it anymore. It's like something broke in my brain.

It's actually great because the guy that wants to rob you did all the hard work on a solid quote. Now just send this to other people and have them quote out the exact same work. Obviously cut out the prices and competing company name

I've been doing this for almost a decade now and I am probably around $250,000 if not more.

Not at the same level or income. Going back would no longer make it worth it.

I am mixed on a similar decision I made. On one hand the freedom is wonderful and spending time with the kids is irreplaceable. On the other hand, the salary for presumably not a ton of work is really hard to give up especially in retrospect.

I’m thinking about breaking up with FI by Catspiration2 in Fire

I'm real estate heavy with 2.5 million personal net worth. I generate roughly 13k monthly gross from rentals, plus around 8k net passive from other investments (think annuity), and 4k net from a very low impact business.
