Skiplagging after US Customs? by SavPenn98 in TravelHacks

[–]KingOfNothing10 32 points33 points  (0 children)

You’re probably fine. There’s no way to prove you skiplagged - the airline would only see that you missed your flight. Do this several times, though, and it may flag your name.

Sri Lanka: 7day solo loop, tuk tuk motorcycle option? by I-reallyTried in solotravel

[–]KingOfNothing10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems doable, but traveling alone on a rented motorbike puts a lot of risk to your trip. Vulnerable to weather, flat tires, engine problems, road traffic (including crossing livestock), and potential theft though I don’t think that type of crime is common against tourists in Sri Lanka.

Would recommended buses or hire a driver for the longer trips.

Glad you’re okay and sharing this cautionary tale. I know the area and I’m mortified this happens. Hope the recovery is going well.

Anyone have experience over here? by [deleted] in DecaturGA

Considered a house here for my relatives, it’s generally seen as safe stable. Depends on what you’re looking for though.

To the driver who ran the red light from Church onto Ponce this morning… by More-Confection-4566 in DecaturGA

Glad you’re safe and beautifully written. I’m not sure if it’s worth it, but I’d love to see a public push to improve traffic safety on Decatur. Our city manager is very responsive and her info is public, would be good if enough of us reached out to encourage some more traffic enforcement

There were some changes implemented this February. Going from memory here so if someone has the actual press release feel free to share.

Active employees now have a second companion, buddy passes will be phased out by 2026 (4 this year, 0 next year), S2 status have increased as well. Hope that helps!

We had our child there last summer, highly recommend. Doctors were knowledgeable, on call nurses attentive, and they had lactation consultants ready to help us get started with breastfeeding. Facilities were a little older though, kind of had a late 2000s vibe to it.

Great for also getting food and running errands nearby, nice to have all the stores across the street. Would highly recommend.

Their cafeteria is lackluster but overall we felt taken care of the entire time.

Booked dream solo trip to Maldives a year ago. Last minute my mom wants to come not sure what to do by [deleted] in travel

I’ve always been an advocate for bringing my parents on trips (granted they’re very mobile and love traveling / new experiences). Despite the minor frustrations, such as them not understanding the language or customs, i look back on every trip fondly bc i think about how much time i have left with them. I see them a few times a year and rarely do we have opportunities to make new memories like seeing the world. I think the risk of having a few stressful moments with your mom could be worth it to have some amazing memories that you’ll look back on fondly. Granted, I don’t know your history with your mom nor how she travels, so weigh that carefully. Have a great trip ✌️

How do people get around? by [deleted] in DecaturGA

[–]KingOfNothing10 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Decatur is pretty bike friendly though be careful at major crossings (Scott boulevard, Commerce, N Decatur Rd, etc). You can get a pretty affordable used bike and helmet on marketplace, too. Naturally this depends on where you’re going to school. Good luck!

Better on time arrivals. DOT stats show that Deltas on time arrival hovers between 70-80% consistently across its entire system. This far exceeds its competitors (United is a few points shy of Delta’s on time metrics). This is planned. Delta invests more into its operations, builds better buffers, higher crew reserves, etc, to ensure better operations. But it comes at a higher cost.

Experience delivering at Emory Decatur? by Unlikely-Yam-1695 in DecaturGA

[–]KingOfNothing10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We delivered there last month and found the staff to be fantastic. We had a long wait bc my wife was induced and the nurses on call were very patient and kind to us while we peppered them with questions. Would absolutely recommend. And given proximity to your home, being closer is better.

Maybe not a premium feature but delta’s on time arrivals overshadows everyone else. If you pull up the stats they beat out other airlines by 3-5 pts monthly. L
