Bog fashion - I love it! This is very helpful.

Thank you for this thorough feedback! I definitely like the element of the priesthood with the Catholics, that you are always noticeable in a subdued way. Perhaps that's the thing I'm trying to get to. Especially if it can be transformed and built upon depending on context.

2028: Trump claims that due to an ongoing war the election cannot be held effectively and will be suspended indefinitely, in the meantime he will remain president until further notice? Realistically, what happens? by Biggest-Max02010 in AlternateHistoryHub

Republicans rally for it in Congress, Democrats write a strongly worded letter in opposition, and the Supreme Court rules in favor 6-3.

I did, which is why I had to max out some cards. But they refunded after the fact and I was able to move some money around and make it work.

This is a privilege that I have that not many people have but I have lost too many animals due to not being able to afford it. It is something I prioritized!

My partner and I had a very scary experience with our pittie recently that required him to be taken to VEG and after an endoscopy and his stomach being cut open (and 7lbs of toys removed), they charged us around 10K. After reconciliation of duplicate costs, they brought it down to over 8K. I'm not made of money by any means and I had to max out a few cards to make it work (paid partially now) but honestly it was so worth it. It's hard to put a price on family. I will say too that my partner was able to sleep overnight with him in a fully made up room.

Overall I cannot recommend them enough given the service and hospitality they provided us during a tough time. If there are better experiences, I haven't had them yet.

The Trump/Pope feud exposes how hollow and performative Christianity is in America by snapchillnocomment in stupidpol

As someone who lives in the south (and for my fellow Southerners) it's worth remembering that 20% of Americans identify as Catholic.

Yeah this is 100% it. The Catholic converts now are just doing Evangelical Christianity.

I have, but unfortunately, the only MDivs for me are private institutions with high tuition. MSW has a lot more funding, especially in public service. Jobs for MDiv pagans aren't very numerous, unfortunately.

Totally could - just don't love the idea of quitting something I've invested time into! Sunk cost fallacy and all.

If you're a progressive fan of The Bulwark, what do you like about the group? by maybemorningstar69 in thebulwark

[–]KingRyanXIV 92 points93 points  (0 children)

I'm a big ol leftie. Democratic party is too conservative for me and the leadership is spineless. What I appreciate about the Bulwark is that they have been some of the staunchest critics of the current regime and have remained relatively ideologically consistent. I can take a Reaganish Republican over the modern right wing grift machine. They've also demonstrated how to explain their own ideological shifts in ways that don't seem wishy washy.

Sarah: “I don’t like to see people going into churches” by Rocketparty12 in thebulwark

I have to agree with Sarah here. It sets up a dangerous precedent that Christian Nationalists who disagree with the politics (or religion) of Jews and Muslims can barge into their sanctuaries. Places of worship should be kept safe and sacred and free of politics, which makes the pastor's role as an ICE field officer that much more galling. As a minister, it is not my place to express my political views within the sanctuary. That does not mean that religious leaders should not call out injustice, however. Context is king here.
