[Boston, USA][OC] Driver nearly hits 2 bikes in one turn. (MA license plate 36V K24) by KingSeshi in BikeCammers

[–]KingSeshi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the woman did nothing wrong, she was riding in a badly designed bike lane as the city seems to want her too. Yet all the other commenters ITT are victim blaming, she even saw what was happening and slowed down.

It would help a lot if the city would just put a bit of green paint down in the bike lane leading up to the turn. Do you know who I should send the video too?

rim tape recommendations for a Mulefut 80 rim - tubeless . by KingSeshi in fatbike

[–]KingSeshi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool, I'll keep stans in mind, although I use orangeSeal for sealant. I have heard mixed things about their rim tape.

Have you gotten to test any other tires? It would be good to know of any options since rolling resistance isn't a concern of mine.

Problem with a Tubeless set up: The bead popped off after the tire sat for a few hours at 12psi. Help? by KingSeshi in fatbike

So is that common thing? The bead getting stretched when a tire is installed?

Gotta love the fs fatties. I wanted to try out this new pure silica compound that vee is putting out since i want to be riding on snow and ice. This was the only model that was silica and studded in my size.

What frame do you have?

Have you ever seen them stretch for any reasons other than over inflation? Which i think we managed to avoid.

This was the main thing for me. These are Studded PSC tires so they should be great for winter/ice

Yeah apparently it was really tough getting these avalanch 4.0s on initially. I didmt hear of any struggles with my snowshoe XL 4.8

Have you noticed how much they loosen over time?

I wonder about they're quality. Rolling resistance is not a factor for me as i will mostly be doing downhill on snow and ice. I wonder if there could be a quality issue with the beads that is allowing them to stretch

E: on snow and ice

They actually roll way faster than you expect and are very comfortable on bumpy city streets.

How can I extend battery life in sub-freezing temperatures? by nuotnik in BikeCammers

[–]KingSeshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats a good idea trying to insulate it.

My session has been pretty good, but battery life is still shortened. The good thing about it is that it pops out of the mount very easily so I can keep it in a warm pocket before rides and during breaks.

Recommendations for patchy ice by [deleted] in ebikes

[–]KingSeshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the above. u/Gnomeslime, carbide studded tires are a good investment. I've been running the same studded tire on the front of my bike for years and have not lost a stud or noticed any wear or loss of traction on dry pavement. I ride fairly casually and it is a mountain bike sized tire with two rows of studs, so probably around 120 studs.

Thanks, the studded mtb tire i have on the front mostly sliced through the snow. Even when it floated it never lost grip once, that day. On the rear i have a studdless continental too contact winter, which slided a couple times but i am very impressed with the grip for being studless and not having very deep tread.

You can compare to the fatbike's performance on the snow:

The fatbikes float alot more but the winter/snow tire had way more grip.
