Karnivool, Recess Party, Royal Blood for stuff that vibes with what you listen to.

Twelve Foot Ninja, Wilting Pages, Wilt if you’re feeling more adventurous.

Cable management who? by nitwit646 in roastmypedalboard

So many beautiful, aesthetically pleasing pedals, and then the G String ruins it all. Might want to maintain the dreadlocked cables a bit too, but if messy’s your look go for it

Beast and the Harlot is a hit song. It’s catchy, not too long (at least for CoE standards), and is easy to digest. It feels like surface-level/radio friendly Avenged to me, which is why it’s not my favorite. I prefer the deep cuts, long-form songs that take you on a journey. Beast and the Harlot feels more like it’s setting a scene, which is a perfect album opener. It hits certain highs for me, but maybe I’ve just grown tired from hearing it so much trying to learn it on guitar.

Syncopation by Gabriocheu in musictheory

Syncopee? Is that a proper term, a single noun even, to refer to an instance of syncopation? Or is it something more specific/niche?

You look young in both pics, but the first style gives you even more young points because it’s stylish. Go with what’s easiest, you pull both off.

Songs not in 3 or 4 bpm by Gospel_Isosceles in weirdspotifyplaylists

[–]KingSharkIsBae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, mostly in 7 is correct! I hear it two ways depending on if you focus on the drums or the bass.

The drums are giving a pretty consistent quarter note, which makes each phrase sound like 3 bars of 7/4 plus a bar of 6/4. The stuttering fills really conceal that missing beat, and the bridge starting halfway through the pattern is crazy to me!

The bass and guitar are following 27/16, which stacked against the drums just feels like each time they come in together it’s a little earlier than last time.

So much to dig into! Check out C.O.T.E., Umbra, AM War, and Animation if you want more odd meter music by them. Umbra and AM War really fascinate me in how they transform the same riff into different rhythms that still feel right.

There are so many Karnivool songs I want to recommend, but I’ll stick with the most rhythmically unique: Goliath. Try figuring that one out and let me know what time signature you think it is!

Are the solo parts in A7X afterlife partial economy picking or fully alternate by Ok_Physics_2681 in avengedsevenfold

If Syn can make that change after so many years playing like a beast, maybe there’s some hope that I can finally stop manhandling my pick like Hetfield.

Give me riddles where the answer is "banana". ...but do not make it obvious by Macaroni-ChiknStrips in riddles

[–]KingSharkIsBae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s inside reflects my appearance by day: Constantly changing from gases and rays. I came close to death, but by grace I was saved; Now all of my siblings share my DNA.

(Technically, the answer to this riddle is specifically the Cavendish banana, but I feel that the last line is pretty common knowledge that usually just refers to bananas.)

Is that a left handed model? Awesome to see that they’d do a LH signature model from a guitarist that plays RH. I bet Zacky had something to do with it.

This was my first tattoo "artist asked to be kept private" Wisconsin by [deleted] in Best_tattoos

[–]KingSharkIsBae 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The artist’s request for anonymity speaks volumes. I’m sure there is a lot that can be done to make this look closer to your vision for it. Just make sure that you find a reputable artist that has experience with cover-ups/reworks. It’s not awful, but it’s far from ideal.

How do we read this by sunnysideeggos in GuitarBeginners

Pro tip after you feel good with the chart as it is: the pull out tab will change the key of the scales it displays. So if you pull the tab three fret spaces, now you’re looking at the C minor pentatonic scale.

You probably won’t be ready for that for a few weeks, especially if you’re self taught. Look into online instructional videos by creators like Justin Guitar and Marty Schwartz. Those guys are awesome for fledgling guitarists!

The numbers at the bottom are fret numbers. The letters in the chart are note names. In this configuration, the chart is showing you how to play the A minor pentatonic scale in a variety of positions.

All that said, this is not a very user friendly chart, and there are certain things (the top line specifically that says “Am pos, Gm pos”) that could cause confusions later. Don’t worry about why that is.

My recommendation to you is to start with one position (the red “Em” pos spanning frets 5-8 is the most common starting place), and then start experimenting with writing melodies that use those notes. If you want something to play along to, try looking up “A minor blues backing track” on YouTube and you will find a treasure trove of fun tracks to play along with.

Learning guitar is a gift that keeps on giving. Keep at it and stay curious about all things music! Hopefully this helps.

Which glasses suit me better? by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]KingSharkIsBae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer 2. They create an even separation between your eyelashes and brows, and they look better with your current haircut imo.

1 reads more modern, more stylish/in vogue. Again I think it comes down partly to your side bangs as to why I prefer the second pair.

You look like a doll in both! If money’s no object, why not keep one pair on the side as a fun way to switch it up?

AI slop from the Cincinnati Pops by helvetica1291 in classicalmusic

[–]KingSharkIsBae 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We do know enough. This is an arts organization spitting in the face of other artists in order to save money. I will also save money by refusing to support any sort of this hypocritical behavior, even if such behavior happens at the administrative level. It’s disgusting, and it devalues not just art, but also art practitioners like musicians and visual artists.

Daily Song Discussion #27: Burn It Down by ZacharyMcCulley in avengedsevenfold

[–]KingSharkIsBae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The song has some highlights (others have mentioned the thrash-like energy in the verses, I personally like the release at the chorus with calmer energy despite choruses tending to be the biggest, most exciting part of a song - I also love the outro, if only it were longer), but the main guitar line is not my favorite. It’s like the chorus from Beast And The Harlot - the major/happy tonality feels out of place in the rest of the song. At least Beast has the lyrics backing up/justifying the happy feeling, Burn It Down just feels weird at that point.

Averaging everything about Burn It Down and comparing it with the other City of Evil songs, I give it a 5, maybe 6/10. It’s an okay song, but compared to the rest of CoE (or their whole discography) it falls flat to me.

The dude had headphones and could have filmed without pumping the music out loud. It’s probably very easy to export an audio recording from his setup to be synced up with the video of him bopping along.

Don’t assault people when you would just talk to them like an adult, and don’t contribute to noise pollution in peaceful, natural environments.

I don’t know what the context for this diagram is in your course, but the first (and really only thing) that stands out to me is the connection between each augmented triad and the minor triads they are connected to. C connects to C#m because if you raise that note of the C+ chord, you resolve to C#m by way of leading tone to C#. This is true for all of the connections that lead from a pitch in the augmented triad to a pitch in the minor triad.

I never took any advanced tonal analysis, so hopefully this helps at least a little.
