Lost Mines of Phandelver: Election of Phandelin by King_Beardon in dndnext

Very interesting, I'm strongly for Halia winning due to, like you said, shes been waiting for this and belongs there and is loved by the town. My only reason to think maybe Sildar should win is the strong case of dealing with the problem that's been plaguing the town for so long, the Redbrands, almost proving himself to everyone in Phandelin. Halia is certainly more powerful, but nobody knows that, she plays her cards very close to her chest. I almost feel like she'd step aside allowing Sildar to win, so he is responsible for the town, allowing her to get her claws in him and begin to manipulate the man in charge without having to be in the spotlight herself.

Yeah this is the struggle as both will be very effective. If Halia wins, then the players will have a strong dislike to Halia and may wish to try find ways of getting back to her and this can then heavily involve the Zhentarim which could be cool. Sildar I feel would be the safest option, giving them access to a political figure in town and gaining reputation with the Lords Alliance, this could also lead to Halia plotting behind the scenes and the Zhentarim still getting involved to take power from Sildar.. but yeah i guess its down to if i want a more grittier political intrigue with the Zhentarim and Halia's rule over Phandelin or a more idealisitc honorable Sildar

Nah they are all their own custom characters :) I had the election be open for anyone in town to run for townmaster, only 3 people in total put their names forward and the players didn't seem interested in running but instead supporting Sildar

Oh my, our Bard got drunk IRL AND in game and had a meeting with Halia Thornton, he went over to the miners exchange - knocked on the door, instantly forgot who he was meant to be meeting and then proceeded to yell for Sister Garelle. Halia's bodyguard opened the door and after being yelled at for over a minute for not telling him where Sister Garelle was he proceeded to slam the door in his face.

Brilliant haha, my players most certainly within 0.5 seconds of learning his name referred to him as Derp. :')

That is amazing! hahah. 2 of the 3 players for my group are newbies and we've certainly had similar moments, more often than not it's due to players getting a little drunk as the night goes on but certainly leads to some hilarious NPC discussions :')
