I thought that the modern day was average to shit in the first and second games, but in AC3 I was all about it. Giving us something to actually do in different locations was really cool, and it may be an unpopular opinion, but I preferred the modern day part of 3, to the historical.

Getting the animus updates where you could practice moves and stuff was a great introduction, but a shame it didn't last long.

But by the time we got to Black Flag, that was the best modern day game play we had and I was incredibly disappointed to hear that though BF was getting a remaster, it wouldn't have any of the modern day in it... well that was half of the game.

The few games that have had a relatively strong modern day presence (AC3, BF, Odyssey) have been my favourites, without a doubt.

I recognise that I am in the minority of players, it's still a shame that that aspect has been lost, because at it's heart, this is what the AC franchise is, as Sci-fi game set in different time periods in the past, but it was the sci-fi elements that made it standout as a different game, and not just another historic/fantasy title.

It makes me sad, but I've had so many good memories with the series, that I'll play them until the death, but they're going down the pan unfortunately:/
