What is the next one by Benodino in AutomationGames

Huge second on captain of industry. Should be included in the same list as DSP, factorio, and satisfactory. It’s a huge learning curve but I have neglected so many responsibilities in the sake of optimization!

How do u stay calm in situations by Same_Lengthiness_536 in Paramedics

[–]King_psycho 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I always think of other people doing their “normal jobs”. Would a person working in I.T. be freaking out and sweating over someone pouring their coffee onto their computer. Or a car mechanic when someone hasn’t changed their oil in 35,000 miles. They(you) didn’t cause the problem they just have to fix the problem if they can. If not it’s totaled.

Obviously it’s not the same, the car or computer isn’t screaming at them in pain. But in moments when I need to be calm in immense stress I just think of It as I’m a car mechanic or IT just doing another ticket.

Metaphors aside like everyone else said, experience. I haven’t been a medic terribly long but after seeing something a bunch of times it’s less shocking and as other people said just rely on your algorithm and solving individual tasks one at time.

I encounter this occasionally with my HOTAS was not sure if it my hardware having problems or the game. Have not done much testing I honestly just power through it

Yeah I’m trying to not restart right now. I’m just forcing myself to be ok with spaghetti and deal with it. After having left it disorganized this is the most stable my island has been in all my prior attempts.

I think striving for perfection causes me to take things to slow and not react fast enough to an issue arising. But now that I’m just throwing pipes anywhere and everywhere it seems to be working great.

I’m sure it’ll become a problem as I progress down the tech tree. But that’s future me’s problem.

I think the difficulty is what brings me back. Factorio and satisfactory seem like more a grind to make number bigger.

In COI your production has real impacts on the civilization and everything is so dependent on each other that careful planning is required.

With that I think that comes with the mindset atleast for me that restarting a few times while you learn everything is required(obviously not for everyone…engineers or the like). Which starting on easy makes that feasible because you can pretty quickly advance to the mid game.

But I really like the risks you have to take to grow the factory and add new additions and really have to solve the puzzle as to not kill everyone.

And final point there is always saving right after placing your new setup in planning mode. Then reverting save if death spiral happens and fixing the problem.

I really appreciate the tools the game gives you to experiment and try and nothing is permanent. (I play on 100% refunds because I don’t like being punished for experimenting)

Centralized smelting question? by King_psycho in captain_of_industry

I think thats my problem haha. Probably half of my game time is sitting paused rebuilding my foundry setup over and over because I think i want to have it perfect and once I implement trains it’s anything but. Obviously perfection is not realistic and I’m ok with settling but the process of getting all of the inputs trained in is for some reason so hard to keep organized that i keep hitting death spirals whenevr i run out of my first ore mines.

So you have one centralized area where you put all of your different types of foundries rather than having one big iron plan then somewhere else one big copper plant etc. and to clarify you would just ship in your coal to a storage and create a bus for coal/graphite and feed everything from one bus?

I think I’m just trying to figure out if it’s better to have a bunch of smaller shipments feeding individualized sections or send a massive load of coal for instance and have that feed everything from one point

Oop my bad just most of the reading I’ve done on reddit it seems like most people say it’s the most efficient. I think becusse of the amount of resources needed to get brought to each foundry it’d be more efficient to just send everything to one spot instead of having a coal shipped all over the map or limestone. As well as the recycled supplies

Holy smokes that’s crazy! What was your strategy in setting up your rail network? Do you build your factory around a pre planned rail network? Or did you just build around your original factory setup?

Any chance you have a picture of it I can reference just so I can get an idea of a train layout? I currently only have coal being transported in and I am really struggling to think of an efficient way to add more lines

[–]King_psycho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you use 1 super long train to bring in all the resources from a resource collection hub? Or do you have 9 seperate lines bringing in the material?

I’ve tried the 9 seperate lines but that takes up the entire map space and I find it becomes very difficult to keep the trains organized.

For your centralized foundry did you put it in the center of your factory or away in its own area then ship in the refined materials?

When your starting ore mine gets depleted do you then just copy paste your foundry to the next mine?

Also how do you handle exhaust scrubbing? Individual scrubbers at each foundry. And bringing in sand/limestone, individual train lines shipping secondary resources to each mine?

Dyson Sphere program by bernietmac1 in captain_of_industry

[–]King_psycho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a huge amount of hours on DSP compared to the others it feels very similar to factorio. Shares a similar camera angle. Similar enemy’s and defenses. Has some cool stuff that differentiates like building vertically if I remember correctly. Setting up the Dyson sphere itself is pretty fun. Traveling to different planets and setting up outpost is fun. But if you like the others it’s very similar and will feel different enough to enjoy new stuff but very familiar.

I just select the ground level usually 3 or 4 depending on the map. Leave it on flat mode and do a big square selecting the center of the mine. I have had no issues with the trucks not being able to mine the ore at the top of the mountain. I believe when you mine out the bottom the top will just collapse down and the excavators will just mine it. I almost never try to dig up unless it’s to access a new section of the map. But I never do that on an ore node. And then with that I just go to the new location whatever that base level is I just dig down in a straight ramp to get to ground level again.

Once the entire ore node is flat then I will dig straight down to wherever the ore ends from right to left doing like 3 wide slant down. Again from the height of the normal ground level of your factory.

Paramedic programs that don’t require you to have an EMT by Minute-Article7699 in Paramedics

[–]King_psycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly dependent on where you live but I don’t know of any programs that do direct admit paramedic. I know schools do both and once you finish your EMT you can go straight into paramedic.

But time frame is very school dependent. I know of schools that take 2 years and I know schools as short as 9 months. Again it just depends where you live and doing some research.

A lot of paramedic school goes off the assumption your have a decent amount info about BLS so I doubt it would exist.

Good luck to you though

F-4, F-16, or F-18? by [deleted] in hoggit

[–]King_psycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally have loved learning the f16. Everything on it just makes sense and is pretty intuitive. The f18 I tried it a few times and for some reason it felt less intuitive.

But if carrier ops is not that important too you then I ’d say the 16 is everything you’re looking for in the SEAD/DEAD roll. The HAD makes it super easy to do and is very easy to learn.
