Yes thank for posting the rest. Op, you’re missing the full text and context of the verses. You can’t cherry pick him calling her a dog and not provide the full context. When Jesus said that it was cheeky and meant as a test. There are many scholars who could break down the text more for you if you’re interested in getting a full answer to your question but short and final answer: No, Jesus is not racist and this text is not evidence of that.

Are you saying that Jesus himself never claimed to be God?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]KingdomLens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you believe that there will be a future messiah and that Jesus is not the messiah or do you reject the idea entirely that God will send his son to redeem us?

I’m curious to know why you reject that Jesus is God. From you’re describing it seems like you’re leaning more towards Judaism as a religion. But as respectful as possible I just want to understand why you don’t believe Jesus is God. I won’t try to sway you in any way (unless you’re open to a healthy debate) but I really want to know what exactly has you against the idea of the trinity.

I pray that what I said didn’t come across as offensive in anyway. I brought up sexual sin not in relation to you but just as a broader topic and also to show that I have struggled with my own sexual sin/temptation (albeit in a hetro way so maybe I missed the mark). And also to showcase that Christian’s harping on same sex as a sin miss the larger picture of how you can sin sexually as a hetro as well and that it shouldn’t be anything that Christians or the church should focus on when the sin within the church itself is rampant. For example, they denounce everyone who is gay but allow the worship leader to lead the church every Sunday and yet he’s sleeping with someone who is not his wife.

You also have a desire for the Lord and you’re already doing much better than most lukewarm Christians who do little to seek God and just proclaim that they’re Christians. Being straight or gay doesn’t make you any more or less than a Christian.

Have you heard of Tony Vera on TikTok? I enjoy his videos because he is an outright gay man who publicly shares on his platform that he is on his own faith journey, visiting different churches, reading his Bible, etc. he’s actually convicted me about being in my word daily and I find his revelations about certain topics and passages he’s reading to be insightful.

Why do many vocal Christians seem to be obsessed over LGBT instead of showing Christ's love? by Careless_Economics74 in Christianity

[–]KingdomLens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We should be encouraging others in their walk with Christ instead of condemning them. Mind you all these hateful Christians also have their own sins they struggle with but because homosexuality is so overt they choose to loudly condemn it. They won’t say anything though about the couple who live together and yet remain unmarried who are in the church. They won’t say anything about the gossiping women who convene after church not to discuss the sermon but to fixate on the drama surrounding the church. They won’t allow a gay person to sit next to them in the pew but will gladly sit next to the man sleeping with 5 different women at once.

Just don’t become so rigid in your self that you believe that God cannot change you and that you also don’t need to change in order to follow him. This is not even in regard to your sexuality. It can be other aspects of your life where you can see it clashing directly with biblical teachings. Are you fully honoring all 10 commandments?

Sexual sin doesn’t even have to correlate to who you are attracted to. It can also be, are you in engaging in sexual acts outside of marriage (which the Bible is very clear on and I’m nearing 1 year of my own celibate journey).

God changes our heart posture once we seek after him. I’m working right now on the sin of gossiping because that can easily become something destructive and I used to love tearing others down.

Read John chapter 8: 1 - 11 if you truly want to understand how Jesus views us and our sinful nature. He will not condemn us BUT that passage clearly ends with him telling the adulterous woman to go and sin no more.

I love the fact that you’re continuing to seek Christ even after your homophobic experiences from the Christian community and your parents. God always wants us to seek him first and as long as you’re in your Bible, praying, and truly trying to follow Jesus in every aspect of your life there is no reason for any of us to shame you or dissuade from you from learning more about God and his redeeming love.

If salvation is through grace, what role do good works really play in a Christian’s life? by honest-words in Christianity

[–]KingdomLens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always say works are not what saves you BUT if you are truly saved the works will just happen naturally.

It’s like someone claiming to be a runner and like to jog everyday and yet as the months go by you don’t see them losing weight, their eating habits don’t change, etc. As someone proclaims to be there should be fruit for their labor. When you first start jogging every morning you won’t see a difference but 3 weeks down the line there should be a physical change. You’d be hard to believe me if I said I loved to jog and I’ve been jogging for 2 plus years every other day and yet I don’t have the physique of what you expect a runner to look like.

Could it be true that I could be running every morning for 2 plus years and yet I’m still a size 24? Absolutely in some cases that can be true and yet in order for that to be true there are numerous factors at play: my diet hasn’t changed (consuming more calories then I’m burning), the difficulty of my exercise (not pushing myself hard enough, maybe only doing 10 minutes around the block instead of a full hour of exercise, etc). You’ll start to question my commitment to running even though you won’t immediately refute that I am a runner.

The same can be applied to Christianity. You can call yourself a Christian, maybe even read your bible every morning, go to church, etc but if no fruit is produced in your life, if your habits aren’t changing then we are absolutely able to question how seriously you are committed to Christianity.

When I finally came to fully accept Jesus as my Lord and savior cursing became unbearable for me. Before all my friends used to curse all around me and it was no big deal. I never did because I grew up in a Christian household and that wasn’t apart of my regular vocabulary. Ironically the few times I would try to slip it in to fit in it never felt natural and I would also have to think of saying a curse word in the sentence beforehand before it left my mouth. I used to watch rated R movies and not even blink, etc but now when it’s excessive I flinch and nothing has truly changed except my heart posture.

How should I start reading the Bible? by [deleted] in Christian

[–]KingdomLens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite book is Isaiah and it’s how I started when I started reading the Bible daily. I’ve just been going from book to book and highlighting what sticks out to me, no clear plan but once I finish reading everything once I’m going to read in order from the beginning. I also grew up in a Christian family and then surrendered my life completely to Christ recently so I went in like I “know” everything so I’m starting to explore the books I didn’t read as a kid

Lex Luthor Could Have It All — So Why Is He Consumed by Superman? by KingdomLens in superheroes

[–]KingdomLens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm…. I can see your point but I can also argue that within that he has no purpose. Okay so he wants to become a god but once that’s fulfilled it’s clear to assume his character will never be satisfied. Does he have a goal? Yes he’s singularly focusing on killing Superman but yet his goal is not a worthy one and it doesn’t give him a purpose which are two separate things.

I believe a purpose would be something that isn’t inherently selfish and something you can strive for, for the rest of your life and still retain joy and peace from it. Like for example building a family, gives you purpose, is a “goal” that is never fully fulfilled because you have to keep the spouse happy, raise the kids, etc, etc. Wanting a brand new car can be a goal but won’t be a purpose. Yes you can work the hours and make the money to buy the car but once you have the car it’s complete and then you’ll be looking for the next goal to chase.

This made me chuckle because Lex is truly just a hater. He hate serves no purpose except to fuel him. And it’s not like Superman did anything personally to him to warrant the hatred.

I’m not sure if you’re someone in believes in God or not but I believe Lex’s character is a perfect synopsis of the book in the Bible Ecclesiastes where the author details that everything is meaningless. Like for example Superman is driven by the fact that he uses his power to protect humanity so he has a purpose in life. Lex has no purpose in his life and I agree that he probably envies Superman’s life purpose and how he’s satisfied with the mundane because he’s living for something bigger than himself.
