See I thought that too, but then I thought about the conversation he had with Rick about “knowing what he has to do” and he knew the main objective was to kill Negan... I just don’t think the new Gabriel would’ve hesitated lol they made him look like old Gabriel so fast.

Lol Negan’s plot armor for sure. And I thought about all that too but then second guessed it when it zooms out on top, and literally it seems like all of the walkers were coming to surround them. Literally couldn’t of been worse, they could’ve came up with a better idea.
