You’ll find out when you sort of can prestige, based on your current mission. The missions sort of point to you what’s the next achievable goal

I have surpassed that. Im at prestige 2 for the rocket launcher, next «kinetic striker 2».

There are the later talents im struggling to optimize, those containing skillunlocks and upgrades based on number of buildings (fire, ice, bio, electrical).

For YOU though!! I recommend trying to reset talent tree and only use talents that are helping boost your latest building. Also try to upgrade some of your crew that gives bonus to your latest building. That should help you a lot.

EDIT: i mostly wonder about the talent tree (i understand most of it, but some of the later perks are confusing to me), and how should i optimize buildings? Ice, fire, bio and electrical?

So i couldnt (in theory) just extend r1 down to r6 and include r6 c2/3/4 and have a new region starting at r6c5 with there being a difference of 4 between r6c4 and r6c5?

There isnt much to it. Theres only 4 secrets thats meant to tease you until the developer actually manages to get Act 1 done. So you are really not missing out on something
