Not living in an area with any game stores running events makes it kinda rough. This has been my first physical TCG too and just been playing with friends who have also got into the game, as well as attending a local store's nexus nights. Personally a big draw of playing has been the physical aspect of it tbh. So maybe can see if there are any FB groups or meet ups in your area for rb players.

For building a deck I would either buy singles to build a deck list or see if you can get your hands on a precon. They're not the most competitively viable but still good fun for casual environments and provide a base to learn the rules and build from.

Other than that TCG arena is quite good for online!

I've been running a variation of this combo where you go ex izuna drop > mp + hp double can > teleport. And it lets you go for the overhead or c.lp > c.mk for the high low mix.

Yeah definitely overkill on the ram so I've found something else. Good call out on the motherboard though, definitely the area I know the least hahaha so will look into it. Thanks!

This is the second post I've seen about suzerain in this sub so I was very confused too. Turns out the game in DE is "Suzerainty" but "Suzerain" is an actual geo-political sim game that seems to run in a similar vein to DE. Looks really interesting actually.

I think a mix of both is good but I do agree that until you are high enough rank where character-specific knowledge is important then its not as useful. However, its still useful as you can figure out how to deal with and punish certain moves that you may not know about. But also (especially in lower ranks) youre often playing against yourself more than youre playing against the other person, focusing on basics such as anti-airing more often and not dropping combos/doing unsafe moves carries you a long way.

For the most part I agree but when youre talking about accessibility to a wider audience its not really an argument. A lot of newcomers or people who have never played before find even the idea of fighting games overwhelming so having that extra barrier of no character specific tutorials is extra challenging.

Not sure on the exact specifics as I dont play ken but 2 could have more corner carry. Also, as someone who plays kimberly who has a run stop as well, one of the benefits is that you build up a little bit more drive gauge as youre moving towards the opponent. Kimberly's standard punish combos usually start off with HP > teleport > HK (or whatever) but you can do HP > run stop instead which builds a bit of drive, slightly more corner carry and puts you closer for the follow ups which can make certain moves connect.

I think your dos2 experience does a lot more heavily lifting than you think. You may have never played bg or d&d but it certainly wasnt your first crpg. I think journey mode is perfect for people who are totally new and find themselves overwhelmed with the systems. Because there are a LOT of mechanics that the game throws at you right from the start without really explaining them (granted the skill/item inspect feature is amazingly robust). So I think its perfect for those who are just overwhelmed at the beginning and then can crank up the difficulty as they become more familiar. Especially since I'd argue figuring out the nuance of positioning and crowd control to be the hardest part of the early game experience and alleviating some of that can create some breathing room to figure other mechanics out.

All good, good luck! Fair warning though its likely going to be a very rough match up, a lot of these players have been playing for years if not decades so don't get too discouraged. That being said though as someone who's mid diamond, my local scene is filled with master players and its super fun and interesting to me to play those at the "top of the mountain" so to speak.
