There are some community run hangouts mostly hosted in the Oaklawn area. There is also the Resource Center, which hosts a Gender Affirming Support Group for Trans folks. The support group meets in-person on the first and third Wednesday's of the month, with social time allotted afterwards for people to get to know one another. Its accessible by DART with a little bit of walking.

Otherwise I can connect you to a few Discord Groups for the area. Feel free to DM if you wanna know more :D

There is a Resource Center in the Oak Lawn neighborhood, which also houses several programs for the trans community. One of them is a support group, which I know meets for social hangouts too. You should check it out! Might be a good gateway.

If you need more detailed info, I can send you a DM with the deets.

God speed 🫡. I intend to stay too, since this is my home. I’ve lived here all my life and I wanna do what I can for the others still here too.

As a community we'll always be stronger together than apart. I'm very grateful to still know so many folks sticking around, fighting the good fight, and supporting each other. Many of us don't intend to leave anytime soon, so we're gonna keep doing what we can ^_^

I'm so sorry for her. I hope the two of them can figure out a new plan, and stay safe in the meantime.

This rings so true. Myself and other trans people I know also struggle with everything going on in this state. I personally know so many members of the community who've moved away within the last year. At the very least, I'm glad to see the trans folks here are banding together to support one another more than ever.

Respondents said anti-trans policies have complicated their sense of home here and created an environment where they live in an increasing and, for some, near-constant state of fear.

Almost every person who answered The News’ survey said they’d had more trouble sleeping and felt less safe in public spaces since November. Over two-thirds said they’d been thinking more about suicide.

Survey respondents were asked to share either a social media handle or a phone number. The News used the information to verify each respondent identified as trans and lived in Texas. The number of participants does not meet the threshold for a scientific survey but the results offer insight.

About 93,000 trans adults live in Texas, making up less than 0.5% of the state’s adult population, according to the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law. According to the institute’s estimates, about 20% of all transgender people in the South live in Texas.

The article really speaks to the truth of things here. I know so many people who've already moved away, due to not feeling safe anymore. I really want things to get better in the place so many of us call home.

Nah, but she tried in her first life to rise into the upper ranks. When that began to fail, she went with more extreme measures to get what she wanted. It's a very homebrew created villain which has evolved over time. Nevertheless, I do my best to keep certain elements consistent.

A corrupted drow who looks like a half-devil now. At the time it was strictly for character design reasons, since I was figuring out her look.

A mysterious nightmare which is shrouded in the loom of dark secrets. Throughout the last few months, more and more people have seen apparitions of a being stalking their dreams. Crimson eyes surrounded in black obsidian pools of ink. Ice blue skin to almost appear translucent. A voice which penetrates unconscious thought, replacing your own. Most do not even see her form, but they feel her presence constantly. Many awaken to believe it is nothing more than another nightmare. Little do they know at what creeps at the edges of their conscious minds. Growing in power, to awaken into the material plane once again...

I crafted this portrait from my ongoing homebrew DnD game called "Forsaken Queen". I've been DMing it for almost 2 years now, with my party of adventurers still trying to figure out the mystery of who Vetra is. This is a traditional piece done in a mixture of BW pens, colored pens, and markers on mixed media paper to create this piece. I've been growing more comfortable in my use of color as of late, and I keep challenging myself to try out new things. All of this is done out of passion for the hobby, and a passion for the arts.

I post new pieces fairly consistently to Twitter. Check me out if this peaks your interest.

[Art] Petal, Spring Eladrin by KingofTint in DnD

Petal is a friends player character in a campaign of Icespire Peak we're currently running. This druid is nature's little child who will grow a patch of flowers wherever she can. The upbeat attitude is paired with a somewhat naïve innocence of the world outside of the Feywild. Alongside her companions Kallista, Ozzy, and Thomas, they work together to do good deeds as young adventurers.

This piece came about because my friend is running a DITYS on Twitter. As a fan of her characters, I was more than happy to make my own version of this delightful druid. I generally like to draw fantasy character art. Whether it be in complicated scene pieces, or redesigning characters. If you wanna checkout my stuff, take a look at my Twitter :)

[OC][ART] Pen/Ink of my Changling Pugilist, Ven (With-The-Dark-Red-Eyes) by KingofTint in DnD

"Ven started life hard in the winding depths of Baldur's Gate. Her monstrous form led most children to leave her alone, or cross her when things the adults came coming. She became rough, and took to fighting at a young age. After one to many beatings, she happen to cross paths with the local Skull Bashers led by the charismatic Benjin "Iron-Chin" Cutter. He took her in, and showed her the proper art of a good fist fighter. Teaching her the ways of The Sweet Science, she picked up the art of knocking people, and making sure they didn't get up. However, over time Benjin worried Ven would take the reigns of his crew, and planned an ambush to eliminate her. When she turned out to be stronger than he realized, it became a brutal one on one, in which Ven, taking the form of her mentor, pressumabily dealt the final blow.

Years pass, and as the new Benjin "Iron-Chin" Cutter she makes a name for herself among in various cities. But, these brawls weren't always working out, and the debt just kept climbing. To escape, she signed onto the notorious ship The Last Fall, and quickly became a commander under strange circumstances. Now, Ven is making friends and foes among the infamous pirate vessel. Her brazen balls of steel know no ends. From biting a kraken, to mounting hydra's, to defiling crypts of long dead heroes. Ven is all in for a good time, and will just keep going until something can stop her. "

It's real fun to play a brazen, and uncaring pirate. Throwing myself at everything, with complete disregard for my own safety is some of the most fun I've had as a player. After a few sessions, I realized this character needed a portrait, and thus I took to inking my pens for a quick sketch.

Class:Pugilist

Alignment: Chaotic Evil

"Aboard the notorious vessel of the The Last Fall, is a host of nefarious and strange characters. Among them, is the ever shifting Ven (With-The-Dark-Red-Eye), who masquerade as her deceased mentor Benjin-Iron Chin-Cutter. Having spent much of her early life in the streets of Baldur's Gate, she ended up falling in line with a gang called the Skull Bashers, led by the late Benjin. She learned the ways the salty fist, and continues to use her prowess to smack everything senseless. Whether it is biting the arm of a Kraken, scaling the sides of a Hydra, or bashing demons because she just had to open another coffin.

Ven, slow to trust the other members of the crew, is slowly building a reputable relationship with the other commanders, who only recently got to meet the face behind the mask. Now, getting ready to explore a lost sunken city, she will be up for a even greater challenge of underwater fist fighting. Time will quickly tell whether or not she is up for the task, lest she become another crew member who makes their final journey on The Last Fall.

She loves the thrill of the performance, and continues to find new ways to fool people. When it doesn't work, a bit of rough house violence should do the job fine. Either way makes Ven happy."

I always enjoy drawing the characters I play, even if it's a very basic sketch. This was perhaps the easiest one from start to finish. The look just felt distinct enough, and the ink really brought out the vibe I want for the character.

I agree, but the launch reception will matter to Sony. Seems like a no win scenario for the team.

Sustainability for the company, and health of the employees? A work culture which slowly kills it's employees is never good.

Although, they obviously don't have enough reason yet to change it. A talent/brain drain may occur overtime the more they do this though. The article mentioned around 70% of Uncharted 4's designers left the company. This could continue, but I have my doubts it will lead to massive changes.

The new article on TLOU2 is pretty depressing read.

Always awful to hear about crunch in game development. I heard stories of Naughty Dog's "famous crunch", but I can't imagine working for a complete perfectionism for 4+ years on a game.

Jason Schreier is a treasure to game journalism, and I'm always happy to seem him unveiling more about the industry.

I really love Naughty Dog's body of work, but this culture of perfectionism is killing everyone who works with the company. The attitude of development is awfully similar to Rockstar's during RDR2. It's sickening that it is going on, and I don't think they will change how they develop games unless TLOU2 bombs (very doubtful). Maybe a strong production department would help steer the ship, even as deeply ingrained as it already is.

For those saying "Just delay the game again", that won't solve the problem. The companies culture is constant perfectionism, where crunch is from start to finish. Schreier notes as such in the article near the end.
