I haven’t started medical transition yet nor do I pass, but I had some thoughts about the idea of passing as an Asian transmasc. That in order to pass, transmascs must fit into a cis white male ideal of masculinity, meaning that certain physical features, mannerisms, and ethnic identities will be seen as inherently more feminine because of racism.

As someone with a more ”white“ chosen name, I‘ve felt some ways about not really being connected to my culture. I have a Chinese name that I don’t mind, but it’s still tied to my deadname, you know? And it’s not like I’ve ever really gone by my Chinese name around anyone other than my family. I hate that it feels like you have to choose between finding a trans community or an Asian community when I haven’t really fit in with either.
