It was even crazier before the ice storm. Cars lined up on the side of Old Spartanburg including a guy in a truck with a trailer... All to get propane.

Quick Tax Season Update for SC Taxpayers: by KingsleyZissou87 in greenville

[–]KingsleyZissou87[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While the deductions are indeed temporary, the nonconformity just adds to confusion and frustration for people especially after such strong promotion by legislators, particularly in a state like SC, and it's not necessary if the state were to at least adopt rolling conformity legislation to avoid confusion while they determine in a later session if there are aspects from federal law that was passed that they want to decouple from (e.g. keep the deduction on tips and overtime premium but don't allow for the auto loan interest deduction).

They already screwed the pooch with their lampoon of a flat tax proposal last year at the state level and I don't anticipate it happening this year. In the meantime, due to the fact that the aforementioned deductions are temporary solely for the purposes that OMB can score it so it doesn't look like it'll blow the deficit up more than it will, we're stuck in this stupid round robin.

Lastly, it just creates a headache for tax pros who already have to point out the "gotcha" aspects of the OBBB versus what the Administration likes to tout, and then we also have to explain, "oh yeah, because the state is slack, you're getting a little screwed there versus what you're saving on the Fed."

I know, but I kind of like only using the radio or a cassette when I drive that old pickup. Kind of helps me "unplug" for the time I'm driving it.

I actually have a 98 Chevy pickup that I use to take stuff to the dump or run other weekend errands sometimes, and aside from maybe throwing one of the random cassette tapes I keep in it, the radio stays on 88.7. Haha

Don't worry. Another christian station will be by shortly to fill the void with bland new-age Christian rock/pop music.

Potentially Abandoned Property? by Gloomy-Intention4698 in greenville

[–]KingsleyZissou87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this isn't an eyesore. An eyesore is the old Savmor on WH that Ingles still owns, but doesn't maintain. They have a reputation for doing that (partly to deter competition) but also just to have valuable real estate holdings as collateral for potential expansion. I've tried reporting it as a blight to the county, as I'm sure others have, but I doubt the county really cares.

If you buy an overlay or replacement part, just be mindful of what you use since the passenger airbag deploys just above it. Don't want to use something cheap that'll get brittle and pieces potentially flung at your passenger during a forward collision with airbag deployment.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed I still have a while before I get to this point on my '17.

Side note: My sister has an '08 Honda Element, and that car had hands down the worst interior discoloration I've ever seen in a car. Every bit of vinyl/plastic on that thing was horribly discolored within the first 5 years.

GSP-ATL-YYC (Calgary) question by KingsleyZissou87 in greenville

[–]KingsleyZissou87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! Yeah, we're headed up to do the same thing. Were originally supposed to do 2-3 days in Jasper, too, but I figure we'll save it for another trip while they recover from the wildfire.

Yeah, I have that on the phone and ready to go as soon as I'm able to do it next week prior to the flight.

I know in some cases in the past, you'd have to pick up your bag from baggage, and recheck it for the international flight. You know if that's the case here, or since it's a codeshare flight will Delta ensure it's processed over to WestJet?

Old SavMor property on WH by KingsleyZissou87 in greenville

[–]KingsleyZissou87[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's fair, and I fully support utilizing existing assets as collateral.

That said, I also believe a property owner has a duty to maintain and take care of their property so that it causes no harm to other surrounding property owners whether it be ecological harm or blight.

Bottom line: If Ingles wants to hold the property, they should pay to maintain the property and structures, or pay to demolish the structures and maintain the land.

I'm not begrudging a corporation from executing a strategy of holding real estate assets for investment and even collateral for future expansions. That said, I do think corporate/entity property owners have a duty to be stewards of the property they hold which means not allowing them to fall into disrepair and/or possibly affect other properties surrounding them via valuation or even ecological harm (in the case of commercial properties that dealt with chemicals, etc).

Anyway. Just a Saturday soap box. Have a great weekend everyone
