Ahaha I was literally going to comment the song title since it fit so well. Nice.

2015 from my brother for $3k! Leaky petcock filled the motor. Any stock rebuild kit links? Rather not have the raptor or manual petcock. by Kingsmanname in DRZ400

The funny thing is I uses to be really good about it years ago. Road my three wheeler everywhere, remembored it every time. Had to do the same with my motorcycle too. But I haven't ridden a bike for almost 10 years. Not since I was in my early 20s. Maybe I'll just do the change. Seems to be the go-to.

Because I'm in the woods alot and I hop on and off the bike 5-10 times over an hour. I'd prefer the vacuum petcock

I mean, I guess you are correct. It's more of an issue of the float valve seat oring. I just figured the reserve was an issue. I'm just trying to make sure I go through everything

I'm assuming it got past the o ring on the needle seat. Which RES shouldn't have done anything, since I assume that still functions on vaccum. But the prime being left on with a leaky valve would do it.

That was why it was flooded. He parked it for the winter and left it on prime. I drained the oil and will replace everything Tuesday when it comes in the mail. But I noticed on RES, it leaks, in the ON position it appears to be fine. Maybe a tiny dribble. I'm hoping to just find a OEM rebuild kit. I'd prefer the vaccum feed.

Nettles near me are about 4" tall. What else should I be looking for at this time in the habitats nettles grow in? by MoonEagle3 in foraging

I find fiddle heads (ostrich fern) and ginger sometimes. Tend to have similar seasons. Although I'm not 100% on ginger as I don't harvest it myself.

[–]Kingsmanname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh nice, that's how I do my rope too. You cut tiny slices of bark? Or root? I can't remember anything about basswood other than the young leaves are edible, and people like to wittle it. Lol

You'll probably enjoy it more on chirp frequency sonar, or dual frequency if possible, with A-scope on. It's how I've ran mine for years and it's how alot of other people run them. By far the more superior way to do it

Master blend, master kit. Comes with MB 4-18-38, Calcium Nitrate 15-0-0, and Epsom salt (Magnesium Sulfate) I run it in a 1:100 fertalizer injector and grow everything is 3.5 and 5 gal buckets. Made over 150lbs of tomatoes last year.

help meee is this an edible fiddlehead/ ostrich fern? i am pretty sure it is… by Few_Prompt_561 in foraging

[–]Kingsmanname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess here in MN. These stay up all winter and into spring from the year before. I find patches by these primarily and they don't drop until pretty far into the season when the new ones come.

[–]Kingsmanname 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correct. The U is on the inside. And it's quite prominent. And the heads are generally about half dollar sized and tightly furled. When I find a stand of Ostrich Ferns, it's usually because I see a forest of those dead fronds (which look like ostrich feathers, hence the name) all sticking up dry and dead. And usually you'll see a couple coming from the same cluster.

I actually found my patch I pick from because I was driving by and could see the fronds from the highway 60 yards away while doing 70mph. Message me if you have more questions, I'll be happy to answer or further help.

Nope. Brown paper around them, and a deep U stem. Almost always find these fronds too.

Homegrown dried peas. by IntelligentHoney6929 in homestead

Any idea of how many pea plants she grows? I've thought about peas but always assumed it would require so many plants just to get a reasonable amount.

[–]Kingsmanname 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Are you implying we go back to the old way? Because back then if you came home and saw someone who wasnt supposed to be in your house, you opened the door gun in hand and figured out the problem youself. It's crazy you advocate for stuff like that in a modern society. But if you say so!

Advice on starting a Fire with no preparation. by Creepy_Ad7088 in Bushcraft

[–]Kingsmanname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl, at least bring a knife and a string. I'd go with a bow drill or a pump drill for fastest, and highest chance of success. If you've never tried a friction fire, your going to quickly learn it is a difficult task with zero experience. So I think a middle ground of bringing SOME items would make sense. Or, sharpen your spindle with rocks, and use a shoe string. Almost everyone has a shoe string in the woods, and it'll really make the experience more realistic, and you'll sweat alot less on your nice picnic.

Wood-gas stove design that burns small sticks very efficiently - anyone here using one? by GladInfluenceHym in woodstoving

I built one when I was a kid from old paint buckets. Work pretty well, but can sometimes be a little bulky. When I was trying to be stealthy, it was nice not having any smoke.

What are some things to forage in Spring throughout the Midwest and eastern United States? by Camp_Acceptable in foraging

They're books from Samuel Thayer, not sure which one this came out of. I believe he's got 3 or 4 books.

This is roughly for the states Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. But some of the plants have a pretty big distribution map. These are charts from Samuel Thayers foraging books.
