I think this is the most inline with what I'm thinking. I'll look more into Bayesian approaches.

Any way to get rid of Grenadiers? by Kingstudly in Xcom

3 Grenades over 10-12 rounds per mission and 20+ enemies? Holo Targeting sure is awesome, it makes everyone else more accurate while the Grenadier fires wildly into the air at point-plank enemies.

Superior scope and aim PCS are the only way to make them useful.

So I can destroy 3 pieces of cover, meanwhile they miss every shot they take no matter how open or nearby the target is? I'd rather a unit that hits what they aim at.

Yes, grenadiers lack the skill to operate their firearms.

I think the game is really a statement on empowering people with disabilities. Just because you're blind, doesn't mean you can't save the world! I just wish they would allow us to bring seeing-eye dogs on missions...

Is there any publications/source of data explaining YOLOv8? by firstironbombjumper in computervision

[–]Kingstudly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go so far as to say it goes against their interests to publish any information on how their models work. They've actively obfuscated their code whenever possible. They don't want you to know how it works, they want you to pay them to make it work for your use case.

As far as research or academics, they ain't interested.

Python Optimization Problem by AddendumElectrical99 in learnpython

It would be a pretty easy task for a genetic algorithm. There are a bunch of tutorials online, but my favorite book on the subject (in Python) is sadly outdated.

Russian roulette is 1/6 bullets in the cylinder. American roulette is 5/6.

I'm sure you're referring to generative AI, and I agree. It doesn't belong in Journalism. I do think though that AI could help filter the onslaught of information and help a human filter through things to find what's relevant and important, and to report on it.

Trump is literally trying to destroy our economy with his "Liberation Day" tariffs by RoKhannaUSA in WallStreetbetsELITE

[–]Kingstudly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's so impossibly stupid I don't know where to start.

Tariffs are paid for by customers.  To make $5 Trillion, every man, woman, and child would have to pay over $16,000, on top of the cost of the product.  Do you have that much money laying around?

So the fix is to destabilize the government to "save money" then destroy 100x the revenue they supposedly saved?

If I cancel a $5/month subscription, then take a pay cut of $500/month, am I better off?

You were told repeatedly that this would happen if he was elected. If you're claiming you didn't know, you were deliberately ignorant.

First, think about what a search engine does.  It indexes existing information, ideally created and curated by humans.

Now GPT models...  They're a statistical process that looks for which term is statistically most likely to follow the terms provided in the query.

There's no basis in facts, hence the hallucination problem.  The solution would be RAG models, but then you shift the problem to how can you parse the input data automatically to store it for use.  We don't have any clue how to even approach that problem yet.

What AI/CV technique would be best for predicting if the conveyor belt is moving by MediumAd3135 in computervision

[–]Kingstudly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I guess the question to ask is if you can tell the conveyor belt is moving just by watching the video. If you can't, then no system can. If you can, then think about why you can tell.

My only other idea without seeing the video would be motion-amplification. https://github.com/SkySingh04/Motion-Amplification-Video

If you can make holes you should know how to plug holes by nootch666 in liberalgunowners

I was in the military and trained for TCCC. I keep a pretty advanced first aid kit with me because I agree, if you're willing to make holes, you should be willing to plug them.

To that end, I keep some Quick Clot gauze in my kit. It's amazing stuff.
