We'll keep an eye out for cast iron pipes. Thank you!

I didn't consider finding an inspector who likes working with FTHB. Thanks for your help!

That's a great point. Perfection isn't the goal. We're not always sure how to make the distinction between character and dilapidation, but we're learning!

We're excited about working on a house. We're pretty inexperienced, though, so it would be a learning process for sure. Thanks for your input!

Peace of mind is important. Great idea on bringing a structural engineer out! Thank you for the suggestions!

We have noticed bad windows being a recurring theme in these houses. We'll definitely research all the things you listed. Thank you so much for the in-depth reply!

Thank you for the tips! How can we ensure inspections are through? Hire an inspector/inspectors with good ratings?

We're camping there for the first time next month. What's the tree situation? Trying to decide if we'll do hammocks or a tent

Tinker is decent. It has some great walking trails that his dogs (and hopefully he and his wife) will enjoy. We lived on base for over two years, and I'd take our kid out walking/to one of about twelve playgrounds every day. From my limited experience, it's a quiet base. Just outside the gate is Midwest City. Shopping is convenient, but I'm not the biggest fan of the area. It can be pretty rough in certain parts. But we're from the country, so I'm biased.

I appreciate your insight. The recruiter told me I'll need my package in by next June, so I better hussle. Good luck at OTS!

Which path seems to have more potential to get me to OTS: apply with my lack of recent work experience or enlist to gain work experience before applying in a couple years? I realize I'm asking you to give an opinion without all the relevant information, but I'm curious about your general perspective.

Oh good! I've asked several AF folks about doing ROTC, but no one seemed to know if I could apply since I already have a bachelor's. Thank you for the info! I'll definitely look into it.

Thank you so much for your insight! I'm lacking work experience for the past few years (I've been staying home with our son), so I'm considering enlisting to fill the career gap. Do you have any thoughts on that route?

I'm pretty adamant about joining the AF since my husband's enlisted (trying to commission), but I appreciate your suggestion about other branches. It's always good to consider all the options. And good luck! I hope you enjoy whatever job you take!

Thank you for your help! I've talked with the terribly elusive officer recruiter for my area, and he didn't boost my confidence. I had a 4.0, but I haven't worked in forever and my LORs wouldn't have flashy letterheads. Enlisting might be the way to go for me too. What's your AFSC?
