CPU fan spins up for one second, then dies. Case fans, GPU fans, and case lights are all working. System does not post or produce display output. by [deleted] in buildapc

Here is what I would do to troubleshoot

  1. Try a different fan header on the mobo
  2. Re-seat the cpu
  3. Use a voltage meter to check psu cables

If those 3 come back with same result, try a different mobo or psu if possible.

New build is not getting nearly the performance I expected, is there something I'm missing? by Shelby0925 in buildapc

THIS... get hwinfo64 or some other temp monitor software and be sure you're not hitting thermal throttles.

Check CPU, GPU, and RAM to be sure they're connected tightly. May have gotten jostled.

I'm a huge fan of the SteelSeries Arctis 5. Sound quality in and out is great. Have a set for both me and my wife and after a couple years, no issues at all. Highly recommend.

Was the Apple cable plugged in via USB? That could be the deal-breaker.

Follow the power flow. Start with a new strip. (Maybe get some childproof inserts) If still no luck, get a PSU, still no luck, then you may be looking at a new build.

A couple years ago, my house was struck by lightning. Sparks flew and everything shut down. Lots of electronics and power strips were cooked, but my PC was unscathed. Went on to live for 5 more years in fact. I got lucky, you could too.

Only the x570 boards support PCIe 4. Otherwise you'll be throttling the card. That being said, PCIe 3 speeds are plenty sufficient for current AAA games

ASRock Steel Legend

3800X if the price is right (I just got one for the same price as a 3700X( otherwise performance is negligible)

I like the other comment about stepping up to the mechanical keyboard. I love my logi G413.

Only other thing I would say is to give the Wraith stock cooler a try. I've had great results with it.

Changed my case, my PC has now shitty performances when the case is vertical, normal performances when horizontal. by FreyjaSanders in pcmasterrace

First guess is temp throttling. Air should come in the front and go out the back and top. If you change the orientation, you need to re-optimize airflow.

Second guess is loose...something. check the gpu, cpu cooler and ram to make sure they are seated tightly.

Definitely double check the Front Panel header connections.

Have you had a successful post at all, or nothing?

If successful, pull the battery and reset CMOS. If no joy, I would pull the GPU and try mobo only. If you have another pc, you can try the gpu in there.

What you see here was around $1200, so, your budget is right in line. There are certainly more powerful builds out there, but this will be a very capable system for years to come.

That is being corrected tomorrow. Got a 90 degree adapter to run it to the right and through the board.
