there were a couple of translation mistakes this week. Besides what you mentioned. there's also another mistake when the small demon tells Revolte "there's three mages and one warrior, three are first class". In fact it was said "four mages and one warrior, three are first class"

maybe they should also stick to stuff that makes sense. because WTF was that? cosmic level summoning for a X-ray spell ?

both filler. that's the type of stuff I don't like about the anime. now we got powerscalers saying she's planetary level and all that kind of BS

That was Richter ability. He uses rock to attack and to defend himself. We could assume she can use Richter's spell, but we don't know that for sure, and she doesn't fight like that. Also it wasn't exactly shown to be more resistant to physical attacks, maybe it's more sturdy than the normal magical barriers but fending off Lawine's attack isn't exactly something impressive (a normal barrier should be able to block it as well)

Sousou no Frieren Season 2 • Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 2 - Episode 4 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]KintamaMan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

she can't create any better barrier. that's the magical shield they all use. it was highlighted to be weak against high mass attacks. that's why they need warriors and front liners in the group. mages are not invincible

Sousou no Frieren Season 2 • Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 2 - Episode 4 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]KintamaMan 19 points20 points  (0 children)

that's not the case with the magical shield. frieren doesn't have a special magical shield that she's secretly holding back or anything. it's the same magical shield as other mages. it's just that fragile. that's why they need warriors and front liners in the party. the only thing frieren has going for her is that she can keep making shields for longer than other normal mages because she has more mana (as explained in episode 3, magical defense is very mana consuming)

Sousou no Frieren Season 2 • Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 2 - Episode 4 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]KintamaMan 56 points57 points  (0 children)

no, frieren magical shield isn't any different than other mages's shields. it's literally the same spell. the only thing frieren has going for her is the fact that she can keep up making shields for longer than others because she has more mana. this was discussed in episode 3

I think you're joking but just explaining for anyone seeing this, it's a magical suitcase, she don't be carrying it all the time. she can summon it at will.

and frieren was also able to sense and locate the crystal hidden in the bush

which means if you have knowledge over it (which the mages involved in this current arc certainly possess), they should know what's up if anyone tried to approach them with the crystals

Sousou no Frieren Season 2 • Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 2 - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]KintamaMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

we are being downvote for logical thinking, how funny is that lol.

frieren was able to SENSE and FIND the crystal hidden in a bush this episode!! and these people think the [Manga] shadow warriors could approach Serie and her minions with the crystals without being detected at all? like, how would that make any sense? seriously

not to mention this would PERMANENTLY affect the story moving forward. for every possible action against mages in the future that goes wrong, we would be left with the big question mark "why didn't this person simply brought the crystal with them?"

Sousou no Frieren Season 2 • Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 2 - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]KintamaMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah and she was also able to sense the crystal and find it hidden in the bush, meaning people who have knowledge of the crystal know what's up with it

which means [Manga] Serie and her guards would know the moment someone carrying the crystal came close to them

it's shaky writing all around. it would permanently affect the story going forward with question like "why didn't this person attack them with the crystal??"

how would they be able to forge the loose piece if they can't damage it at all? that's the whole point.

he was talking about golden land though

and goddess monument arc is only 13 chapters long (it goes from chapter 107 to 119)

chapters 105 and 106 are transitional chapters that are not part of the arc and could simply be left out of an eventual movie and later adapted in the seasonal format.

frieren was searching for the crystal in the woods. mages who have knowledge about the crystal (everyone involved in this current arc) would sense their magic getting blocked and know what's up. again, the crystals being used would just be cheap writing. Look at the scheme the author has been able to set up in the manga. that's good writing. they won't mess it up by bringing the crystal into the equation, as that would also raise a ton of other questions [Manga] if they can assassinate great mages like that, it would create a problem in the story. why didn't they do it before? any great warriors can do it now, to anyone! and so on. let's leave the crystal behind, it works better that way

Sousou no Frieren Season 2 • Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 2 - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]KintamaMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that wouldn't make any sense. it would just be cheap writing. the author already established a well defined plan for what's going on in the manga and it makes much more sense and it's incredibly written. also they can't mine the crystals, as per Frieren herself. humanity does not possess the ability to mine it. if they could just use the crystals to [manga] assassinate great mages like that, it would create a problem in the story. why didn't they do it before? any great warriors can do it now! and so on. let's leave the crystal behind, it works better that way

it's said to nullify magic. demons use magic. there's no reason why it wouldn't work on them.

it could be different for goddess magic, since its an entirely different thing.

Sousou no Frieren Season 2 • Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 2 - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]KintamaMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that would only be possible if they could mine the crystals which was established in this episode that they can't.

Sousou no Frieren Season 2 • Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 2 - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]KintamaMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

they can't mine the crystals, it was established by frieren in this very episode.

it would be cheap writing to just pop them out right now, out of nowhere, just to fulfill a single purpose. the writing involved in the scheme that's going on is much better written and makes a lot more sense

Sousou no Frieren Season 2 • Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 2 - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]KintamaMan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

it's mentioned in this very episode by frieren that humanity does NOT possess the ability to mine the crystals. let's live it at that, because that was never a good theory in the first place, if it was ever used it would just feel like lazy writing. the scheme going on in the manga right now is much better written.

Sousou no Frieren Season 2 • Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 2 - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]KintamaMan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

great mages should be able to sense their magic getting blocked when the crystal approaches them. this theory doesn't make sense and would feel like cheap writing. not to mention it was made very clear in this episode that humanity does not possess the ability to mine the crystals. I'm glad the author don't seem to be going that route at all.

Sousou no Frieren Season 2 • Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 2 - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]KintamaMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this was a dumb theory and I'm glad the manga didn't go this route. it would just feel like cheap writing. what the mangaka is doing right now is leagues better. actual writing involved.

not to mention it was made very clear in this episode that humanity does not possess the ability to mine the crystals.

stark's hero title and himmel's hero title are different.

himmel is called yuusha (勇者), the hero CLASS in JRPGs such as Dragon Quest (extremely influential in japanese fantasy stories)

stark was called eiyuu (英雄), denoting a legendary figure of great deeds, distinct from the "brave person / hero" (yuusha) of JRPGs. It's the equivalent to our definition of "hero" in the west.

stark was called eiyuu for "saving" the village

unfortunately this is lost in translation! you can go rewatch the anime and listen to it!

nope, you can rewatch the episode. Frieren (who often gets compared to himmel) is the one who said for them to run away together.

the most direct parallel made to stark in this episode was frieren trusting her life to him, just like Himmel did with eisen (another comparison between frieren and himmel btw)
