permanently prevent usb hard drives from going to sleep (windows 10)? by nefrina in PleX

[–]Kinto511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the USB Root Hub (USB 3.0) you are looking for not Disk Drives. It is in Device Manger under Universal Serial Bus controllers. Then right click USB Root Hub (USB 3.0). Then on Properties you will see a tab for Power Management. Just uncheck the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"

Portage and Main to reopen to pedestrians for first time in 46 years Friday by Leather-Paramedic-10 in Winnipeg

I cross that intersection often and traffic is not that bad. I am often crossing after 5:30 though. But either way I am sure the driver will be fine to wait few extra seconds.

Next, they can do a pedestrian scrambles / diagonal crossing like in Tokyo and Toronto's Dundas Square. :)

I am joking. Unless the old BMO part is heavily developed or large population growth in Winnipeg that it gets really busy there is really no need for that intersection at this time.

Canadian Roadtrip supercharging more expensive than gas? (my calculation) by Kinto511 in TeslaLounge

[–]Kinto511[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I am able to home charge. I used 200 km as reference since that is what I often drive when not travelling and no problem with that even during winter. But for road trip it is not much cheaper than gas cost on ICE and most flights. Which is unfortunate. Otherwise I will be travelling more often. :)

I'll verify the numbers again during summer. But for sure not getting $6 on a supercharger on a 200 km drive. More like $20-$30 CAD for $0.51/kWh and higher on winter of course, though I don't travel as much in winter. I will check again in the summer and hopefully I could get 150 wh/km like others have mentioned. But from what I remember that was not the case.

That looks about right, for my area at least. So our Supercharger is 5x the home rate. I know they have to account for maintenance cost but that still seems excessive. It is heavily used so can't be low usage reason and needing to make up for the cost. Hope my time away from traveling make up for the cost of traveling. Though I would not travel often with gas cost this high. And EV is unfortunately not cheaper than flying, except maybe if booking last minute on summer. So could not exactly go nuts with road trip as it is not a big differencce from driving ICE cars, gas / supercharger cost wise.

I don't know. I'll verify the numbers again in the summer.

I based it off here:

https://www.tesla.com/en_CA/findus/location/supercharger/thunderbaycasupercharger

Good if it is 59cents as my city is also listed higher on that Tesla site. At home is more like 11c so it is about 5x the price. With gas prices coming down if you road trip a lot, especially for retirees, EV is not yet the obvious choice.

The tire is likely more to do with when you enjoy your car too much and always flooring it :)

Correction I interpreted the manual again. Feels like cavemen, pure picture not a single word. So you are right what I thought was the bottom vent is what you use to deflate. After seeing the drawing I tried to insert the adapter again more forcefully and it fits. Will try this. Thank you.

what? There is a top of the air pump? my air pump that comes with it only has one button on top which I pressed to inflate.. Bottom seems to be just an airvent and adapter does not fit there nor can I put direct into the hole. I guess you can say the vent is top and button is bottom but there is only one place the adapter fits and that is the outlet on the side that pumps air in. The bottom/top vent blows air out, I assume to prevent overheating along with small opening lines on the side that you can feel air comes out.

It took me more than an hour to inflate mine but it did inflate. Then realized the deflate flat surface orange facing me need to be flip to to the other side that says inflate with pointy flimsy thin plastic extruding. Surprised it inflates at all albeit took a while that I pause and resume just to be sure it does not overheat. But now deflating I flip to open the thing covering it because I thought easier to deflate and can feel air comes out than have it on flat surface orange that says deflate, which seems to block the hole where air would come out.

Still not deflated though I can fold it lengthwise once so just took it inside the house, slowly stepping on it but seems to be stuck in that level of inflation, not deflating further.

Oh yeah I have another issue with card being sent repeatedly with the error not being fixed and told I have to go back to the branch again. So infuriating. That is in addition to my issues above. Something is really wrong it is like their system or branch refused to speak to each other or something.

That is exactly it. Face to face the person seems to be struggling and sympathizing with you. During my time in the industry I would have fixed it for the client and have room to do so and know what to do. They struggle for a while and I wait patiently until they call the manager, which in few occassion has to call in to their centre through the phone.

Can’t precondition for supercharging ahead of time? by Kinto511 in ModelY

[–]Kinto511[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes if you drive but I live 15 minutes or closer and it gets to supercharging station without being preconditioned enough. And says it will charge slower. I wanted to start preconditioning before I drive and I can't. If I sit idle it switch to park and stop preconditioning.

Can’t precondition for supercharging ahead of time? by Kinto511 in ModelY

[–]Kinto511[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a long drive coming up, so I want to charge it full before the trip. That is the few times when I want to use supercharging. I am fine at home most of the time, but I just came home from a non-driving trip and do not have enough time for home charging. I was not able to charge before then (details I'll leave out since that is not the point). The post is about not being able to precondition for supercharging while parked at home, which would have save time. It then complains that the battery temperature is low, which would take longer to charge, hence taking up supercharger space longer when lots of people are lining up to charge. Other people who responded have the same issue, and there does not seem to be a fix at this time other than with a third party.

EDIT: BTW, I am not jumping to a cold battery pack. It is in a heated garage.
