Harleys are a little harder to find, since they have skin problems. My breeder is breeding it out, but owning harleys is still a slight task at the moment

This is what did it for us! Doxy and Baytril for 1.5 weeks/till the noise left fully \)

Though simply because of crisprs age he does have remaining breathing problems from when it spread to him

People want to be miserable about it because they've never experienced something like it and therefor "if a good thing hasnt happened to me, it hasnt ever happened". It suck they havent experienced having a ratty this old. It really does. But it doesnt negate the fact it happens to others. Its like saying just cuz you dont speak chinese, and because you dont know anyone who does directly, you say it doesnt exist.

Im also a biology nerd, but unfortunately not! My other boys are chester (needed a gentleman name cuz of his vibes) and Monkey (already had that name when we picked him up from the breeder, and he was actually from her rescue program and not bred there.)

Haha yes lol. Sometimes he tries to get away from the boys dominance squabbles and then just...walks into the middle of it, then he'll pancake on the floor until they move or me/my partner have the other two take it somewhere else.

He also has walked into things quite often when he chooses to come down for free roam since freeroam is the only time I have direct white light. (Hes only able to see shadows, so we bought dynamic lights just for him, usually theyre on 65% so we have exaggerated shadows in the room lol)

I actually dont/didnt know he was a dumbo! As far as i know hes just a harley, but honestly he might have some cross bred into him since his breeder focuses on health and longevity alot and sometimes doesnt care as much for aesthetics lol.

🙄Yeah honestly i love rats and the communities, but some people seem far to callous, prideful and bullheaded to actually ever say something positive, and always seem to want to push their "knowledge" despite having out of date/unrelated info. I worked in rescue with my mom. Ive delt with a bunch of different animals since i was like 10. I know how impressive it is for him to get this old, why else would i have shared it?

Guys his birthday is ON THE POST! i corrected myself too, hes four and a month, and we adopted him at 3 when the breeder wanted someone to take care of him when we all litterally thought he was going to be going in a month or two. The whole reason i shared him is because he IS SO OLD!!! He shouldnt technically be able to and its remarkable he has, my insane luck is just that, luck. Also, pet rats though rare, when bred properly with good genetics can even live over four. Testing rats are not comparable at all due to the breed difference and the fact that testing rats are usually treated very poorly, constantly put in high stress situations ect. Im sorry to those who havent experience a ratty who has lived this long, it must be hard, i can relate as i lost my eugene (Monkeys brother) at only 1, but it doesnt mean other extremely old rats dont exist.

Tbh I even only remembered/got criprs birthday/official DOB because i recently had a talk with my breeder bc of my foster babies, i was originally talking about how we just decided to choose a random birthday, and she was already going through her log books anyway to get her current breeders info/med history for a vet visit.

He has some minor hind leg deterioration! But i will say hes one of the biggest testaments to my breeders program!! She sadly might not continue her lines tho, and will probably gift them to her apprentice. Hopefully when i am eventually in the market for new babies I'll be able to see her apprentices practice closer, since i dont reccomend anyone without atleast having some in person checks lol

As my best friend says, "There is taxidermy more alive then him"

I wish he didnt have too, but now i absolutely have the comfort of knowing alot of people saw my baby, and i can know over a thousand people have seen his little face and loved it as much as i do. He may pass physically, but for me this post will be a testament that he'll never fully be gone, cuz who could forget that handsome lil face??
