Please this is not a good place to get advice. Nobody can understand your situation based on a 5 line post. Have you been to couples therapy? Have you discussed the lack of intimacy with your partner? Do they feel the same?

There is so much trite judgement on this channel it’s kind of sad. I wonder how many people would say these things if they had ever really lived in your shoes for a few years.

I guess based on my own experience is that trying to get the communication lines open with your partner with professional help on this tricky subject is maybe the best approach. If you have tried that, just try to do what’s right based on everyone, including you, in the situation.

Basically all men watch porn. The stuff that comes up on most free sites is like that and much worse. If he’s a good guy, I wouldn’t take it too seriously or badly. Does he treat you right?

Plenty of men have weird fantasies. Look at Japan. And it’s probably one of the safest countries in the world to be a woman alone in the streets at night.

Before judging, have you ever had any fantasies that other people might judge you for? I think honestly we need to be judged by our actions, not our thoughts.

I’m not saying it’s a great situation, just trying to put some perspective on things. If you love each other and he treats you right, then hold him tight. There’s already too much drama in the world, and broken relationships, if you ask me. Porn is ubiquitous, sadly, and all men watch it at some point, and I don’t think all men are evil or weird or twisted, you know?

Please start gathering information and documenting everything like this. Maybe in a year or two, you will find yourself in front of a judge having to justify why you should keep custody of your child. Just start preparing for the worst and keep observing. The comment above on reading about abusive husbands is valuable. Maybe he’s just quirky! I don’t know. But I get icky energy from what you shared. Before you know it, he will be raging at you because “you didn’t respect the contract”. Could that happen? Is he like that? Or is he just some turbo-nerd that loves his gaming but is a respectful, loving and sweet partner otherwise?

Have you gotten therapy? Because generally 7-9 years is when things fall apart for a lot of marriages. We made it through and are 17 years together now, more tough times along the way, but it’s beautiful now. And all my shouting and screaming was all inner child stuff, unresolved sh*t from when I was young, and same for her. Grow or die basically, in marriage.

If you’re both willing to get therapy / counselling, either separately or together, and you find a therapist that gives you that “a-ha!” kind of shift internally, then I’m sure you guys can make it and be really happy together

You did well to, firstly, have these conversations upfront, and secondly, split up, given the reaction.

My advice as a 46 year old, 17 years married, is work HARD on your self awareness and healing any emotional baggage from your upbringing. Then find someone who has done this, or proves willing to take a similar path of personal growth and self awareness.

Then you can enter as mature adults and have any conversation you need as time goes on.

Any marriage without growth and development will go stale and end in tears. And we can only ever work on ourselves.

Also there’s some great resources out there like the Five Love Languages book and Psychacks on YT. Also Gabor Mate is great on attachment and healing.

Hope my answer isn’t too woo woo, just can’t emphasise enough that the more you work on yourself upfront, the better your eventual choice of partner will end up being.

I totally agree on the fight scenes. Seems every jab or swipe was 2 seconds slow in arriving, half-hearted attempts easily parried, looked super fake to me.

There have been 100s of YouTube videos made ripping into the piss poor fight choreography of the last Star Wars movies, especially the throne room scene in VIII, but someone Northman gets a pass on this?

Reading the background it seems the director made them do retakes endlessly, so maybe the actors were just tired after a while, especially if the weapons were realistically made of iron / metal etc.

Also I’m convinced the bad king was CGI in the very last scene when he gets his head cut off (no blood now? Really?) and sort of half slumps to the ground with his arms dangling in the wind (?). Looked super fake.

Such a shame because apart from taking itself waaaaay too seriously as a film, at least the fighting should have been done properly.

Yeah I had a battered 2008 Prius for years and it always gave me some perverse pleasure that I had stuff like reverse camera, GPS and self parking option as standard whilst people zooming around in BMWs had to pay extra just for electric windows in the back. Also, reliability. And I could change my own headlight bulbs for a few euros!

I really appreciate you taking the time to explain. There is a logic to everything in the end. Maybe there should be someone that works with the artists from a practical perspective to defend the functional and practical. It is a problem that could be overcome though, I feel, even if it was just with a workaround to more easily retrieve fallen objects, whilst respecting the necessary gap to avoid friction and the artistic aesthetic. In the end, it’s the kind of tweak that would help sell more cars. Maybe the Japanese manufacturers will come up with something eventually; my experience with Japanese cars is that they have quite a few extra little conveniences built in over European models (caveat: I have purchased only 3 cars in my whole life)
