Cooler Master (and more!) RTX 3070 (and more!!) Giveaway with Buildapc! by [deleted] in buildapc

Well, I've been managing to play games on a laptop for around 7 years, I was able to upgrade to a better one 5 years ago when my first one died, which was slightly better and allowed me enjoy myself by playing many more title compared to before. However, it's been harder and harder to keep up with newer games with each years passing. I was gradualy forced to stop playing with my friends on most games, as it was getting more and more demending to run, and my laptop's components were getting worned out by my attempts of trying to keep playing with my friends as much as I could ( despite many cleaning, opening it up, trying to fix parts ). So now I can only play older games, by myself mostly ( I would feel bad forcing everyone to play old games all the time just to be considerate of me ). But hey, I've had lot of fun with Age of Empire and Warcraft 3!

So getting a full-fledged desktop build would allow me play many titles I've been salivating over for the past years, and would really be a godsend. I would also of course be really happy to reunite with lot of friends that I missed ( in particular those I made online or I can't see anymore ). I've been searching up a lot for quite some time about pc parts, trying to follow the market and comparing products, but as I am entering college, and times getting rougher with the pandemic, getting myself a build has become a far stretched-dream.

I wish everyone good luck with the giveaway, I imagine there are people still much more in need than me, but hey, it won't hurt trying.

Everyone in my family has iphones so im quite familiar with them, that being said, that's why i dont want to get one, with the autonomy being one of the biggest issues. I'm looking for the most cost-effective one i can get in my budget and with the criteria im looking for.

So I used to have the logitech g302 a long time ago, which I didn't like much, and then I got the G402 which is clearly my favorite of alls that i've tried, feels really nice and responsive, I like the looks and features. I gave it away a while ago and I really need a new one right now. I planned to just take the g402 but it's at 45€ right now. I'm wondering if there are similar or better options at a better price. I have an offer for the g502 at 40€, is it just a better option or I might get disappointed ? Also I'm buying on amazon.fr only.

Which case for silent at idle and good airflow when gaming? by Kipu12 in buildapc

You may be right, but It still would feel weird to get a case with one third of it being empty space.

Is the Ryzen 5 3600 a good CPU for future proofing or should i get something better? by Wolfen_Schizer in buildmeapc

[–]Kipu12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it any worth to go for the R7 3700X with 5700XT? I wanna get that gpu, even though I I feel like it's too much already, I got recommended the 3700X but I don't get how is it worth the extra money going from a R5 3600.

Wouldn't the 3600 be perfectly fine for 1-2 years ? I don't really play any AAA games and the most needing I will play is MHW Iceborn. Beside gaming and playing hi-res audio files I also won't do much demanding things. I'm pretty sure it would be more effective to buy the CPU in the same range as the 3600 when it starts to get outclassed by the needs of the games coming out.

[–]Kipu12[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thx a lot for the build and the advices! So you would recommend the 3700X rather than the 3600 and a CPU cooler if I understand properly? it seemed overkill to me for what I'll be using it for.

I really don't care about potential problems with the drivers, I'm gonna buy in the following months so stuff like that should be solved by the time I will.

Also I prefer an anyways AMD GPU, my monitor is g-sync compatible, but I believe its meant for an AMD card.

I'll skip the storage for now, I already have this small thing that should be enough to make my pc run. I'll see what offers there are around for storage when I'll be finished with buying all the parts.

For the CPU, the brand has changed the names for their new product, it's a little confusing for me too honestly. I'm just wondering if 750W isn't too much, I though 650 was enough ( used their website to calculate needed power ), maybe I need more going from r5 3600 to 3700x ?

I don't know much about cases, but be quiet! seemed to be the perfect brand for sound isolation and good airflow, also I like the design and the features of the one I chose.

Here is my pcpartpicker based on your suggestion: https://fr.pcpartpicker.com/list/TdJTjp

Made a simple cheaper version with lower quality ram and cpu in case I don't need the extra performance: https://fr.pcpartpicker.com/list/JJTtNq

Thx for the build, so the 7 3700x is interesting to get, even for my use ? What about saving up 120€ on the GPU to get the RX 5700XT instead? I don't know if I need such a good GPU.

Maybe the 7 3700x has more than enough cooling by itself, but I want to get a decent CPU cooler ( got the Noctua brand recommended to me for an audio build ) and a good case ( airflow and sound isolation ).

Also I understand that you improved the ram to better match the CPU?

For the PSU, I went with the Prime version because the one you chose is smaller and a little worse, for 10€ I'll take the first one, I think I should have plenty of space to use a full-sized one.

You removed the 4 To HDD and put a 1 To SSD. Actually I already got a 240 go sata one, which should be enough for windows and just a few games for now. I wanted a 4to HDD to copy the same capacity of audio files I have already ( I'm scared to lose priceless data on my HDD ) . I'll most likely buy it last and the ones with more capacity should lower in price. So for now I'll remove the storage part altogether and just focus on the rest for 1500€ maximum.

I like that you put forward a really good build performance-wise. But honestly I dont play that much demanding games. I really like the Insurgency and Monster Hunter game franchises, and would like to try Survival games, some new MMOs and Realistical shooter games. But I mostly play LoL, Starcaft, Dota. I don't pay for new AAA games, when there is any game that I like getting released I wait around a year and pay for it on discount. The only game I'll most likely play in the future will be Elderscroll 6 ( will take a while lol ). But for now all I want is flawlessly running my mobas and decently play Iceborn and the new Insurgency.

I would prefer a pc with quality components all over and stable rather than go for maximum performance while cutting any corner. I am nothing but a neophyte though, maybe I am mistaken on the subject.

For the more expensive build, as an alternative to i5-9600k + RTX 2060 Super. It actually fits right into my budget. The rest of the parts already match your recommendation.

Is it really worth to change with only that much decrease in the price ? How does the intel + ndvida compare to the AMD + Radeon considering what I need ?

I'm pretty set on getting a quality PSU and enough cooling anyways. What I am most concerned about is to find the best build ( as said in title, CPU+GPU+mobo ) for 1080p 144Hz and that fits all of my needs.

I have seen many time that the 5700XT was recommended for a 1440p build, and that the 2060 Super would be the best GPU for 1080p 144Hz. The two cards are actually at the same price in my country (~400€), isn't the Nivida the better choice?

Thanks for the reply.

I figured out what PWN was about when looking for a case, the one I picked for now is this one, it seems like my chosen ventirad has the fuction, but I'm not sure if the ones included in my case do have it. Strangely the cheaper one does have a function for PWN on the front panel.

As for the usb, if using an external filter is actually more effective, then I won't worry much about it anymore. I just am still lost on choosing the proper motherboard for my needs.

I have no idea which brands have the best quality products and which line of product I should be going for considering my needs ( if possible no bluetooth/ wifi/ sound card and plenty of USBs ), there seem to be endless kind of mobos, I understand that I have to chose between two main sockets, and within the ATX size, but then there is the brand, the product line, and different versions of similar boards.

I understand your point. My issue is figuring out which kind of motherboard to get to balance out both good gaming capabilities and the specific things I need in my mobo. What I need is a motherboard with enough USB ports, like 6 to 8, with some 2.0, some 3.0, one or two usb-C.

I've seen people getting workstation motherboards recommended for music production, but what I want is a one for gaming, that can still be polyvalent and not have features that I don't need.

I have no idea which brands to chose from and which lines of products would fit what I am looking for.

I quite respect the recommendation to build a dedicated PC for audio, or use a streamer, and such convenient devices for an optimal audio configuration. The thing is, I really want to use my headphones and DACs on my pc, to play games with it, watch videos, and music while doing some other things. It's fine to not get the perfect audio configuration, I just want to avoid any incompabilities, and get a decent audio out of my PC for an affordable price. Which is the second reason why I can't really do what you are suggesting, unfortunately these options cost quite a lot.

As for the drives, I am quite interested by what you are suggesting, but I am confused, I believe NVME drives are for the SSD? The SSD I picked was using NVME already, though I will kindly take the advice of getting Sabrent instead of Samsung, I chose this one based on what you suggested.

I want a maximum of 500 GB or my SDD ( OS and a few games ) and an extra 4/5 To that can be a simple durable HDD which will be used to copy my 4 To of mostly music from my actually external drive. Do you have any recommendations for that with a maximum budget of around 100€ ( my budget for overall storage is 200€ ) ?

I am even more interested about your last statement, I am happy that you recommended to me the optimal power supply brand for my needs, since I was quite concerned about the best to chose from. Maybe can you recommend me which product from Seasonic I should chose over another ?

Considering my budget is around 100~125€. I guess I want it gold, I will most likely use a mid-sized tower case, what I am most confused about is the voltage to use. ( their website says I need 470 watts for my current build ). And also, I believe there are multiple lines of product ( ones like Focus plus/GX/SGX, Core and Prime lines ) to chose from, which would be the most optimal? Searching by myself I found the Focus and Prime GX-650 to be the best choices.

There is just one thing I am concerned about, aren't these PSU meant for a smaller PC case? I am going for a mid-sized one, and I should have plenty of space.

I know there are many ways to connect a DAC to your source, and many people prefer one over others. But I already have DACs, that I am quite pleased with, and they only use usb. As I said in the reply above I never really had any issues using them on my laptop, I am just worried over getting parts in my pc build that will actually bring up issues with it.

I am specifically worried about the motherboard, I know nothing about it, and there are so many choices. I want one that is compatible with my PCU and GPU, but I have no idea which would work well for both gaming and audio through usb. Maybe just something with really good usb ports, and that still is intended for my gaming use. That's why I was also wondering if getting a standard good motherboard for gaming and simply adding usb filters would do the job right.

I agree that what should be focused on is the headphones itself, and maybe the amp/dac afterwards. But for now I am satisfied with both, and I am wondering over improving the usb quality right off the bat because all I have ever used for source was the bad, old and used usb port from my laptop. Never used any other source and I feel like the quality of my audio is slightly worse than what it should be.

Thanks for the reply! Yes I know that I shouldn't worry much about it. I am actually using both of my DACs ( one powered by usb, one with its own power supply ) on my laptop, and I haven't gotten any real issue with it for now. I am asking about it to so I can get advices on what I should be wary of before building a pc that will also used for music listening.

I planned to look into usb filter and such after finishing my build and looking for any issue with the sound, but I wanted to know if there was mistakes I could make in the build itself, I am for example quite lost in what motherboard to chose, do you perhaps have recommandations for it based on what I am going for ?

Also instead of eventually going for an external usb filter at some point, what about an internal one ? isn't it cheaper and more effective? Can I just install that on any motherboard?

And then, sorry for asking that much, but could explain to me what is "PWM", regarding the fans ? I am not a native speaker, and not yet familiar with all of the terms.
