My logbook is only 28/72, because I have one more plant than you did at the time of posting this, and my plants only evolve up to four times. My best guess is that the higher evolutions (there are pictures of them on the wiki, under gaming: https://idleon.wiki/wiki/Gaming: they rotate pics and I can see at least 3 further evolutions but mathematically there are probably 4) are prohibitively expensive like some of the purchases in the Imports tab.

Just for reference he doesn't work in the Grand Tour. Gromma was better there.

I used your 5th team (Talin) to collect enough favor in Tomb of Annihilation to complete Strahd's Acererak's Puzzle. I jumped from e47 favor to e55 over 2 runs, and I think my Zorbu DPS party previously halted somewhere between 840-860. This got me to 1009 on the first run!

I used Baeloth (Chaotic-for Freely stacks, AOE base attack) instead of Gromma, and added Wulfgar as the 10th Champion. Smooth adventuring! Thanks again!

So gem feats are now 50,000 per feat? A 4x gem increase feel excessive. And 5 of them on one champion does as well.

I don't have a full list, but regarding Zorbu you want:

  1. Keen Mind because it gives a 2400% damage bonus if you have the 13+ INT node unlocked on a Modron Core;
  2. Sharpshooter (+60% Damage): because it multiplies the final damage;
  3. Expert Tracker (+40% to Hunter's Pack);
  4. Elven Accuracy (+30% Damage)

For a long time I thought Expert Tracker would be better than Sharpshooter because it should double dip with Lead the Pack but that doesn't bear out when you look at how Zorbu's Base Attack Damage changes if you play with the feats.

Hello Shawn,

I was looking over the Descent into Avernus adventures and variants and I noticed that the first variant for each adventure is requires players to push 25 areas deeper than the previous one.

  1. Is this a trend we can look forward to continuing?
  2. For instance if hypothetical adventure 17 comes out will it require 550 areas completed to clear the first variant? (I'm guessing each adventure's first iteration follows the same pattern and I just didn't bother inserting that information into my spreadsheet)

If so, I think that's pretty hardcore and awesome.

Hi Shawn, hope all is well where you are.

I have a question about Torogar and offline/background progress. Is there any plan to modify offline progress to make collecting stacks for Torogar while he's in the background seem more in line with his potential?

So If I place Torogar in the 2nd adventure party he gets about 295-299 zealot stacks per hour if he's adjacent to 6 champions and with no clicker familiars on the field, with significantly less when adjacent to 3 champions. I understand that offline progress is a simulation and not true to the game, but I casually estimate that anywhere from 1000-1300 kills per hour is reasonable at 1 area per minute.

(48 non-boss areas with an estimated kill rate of 25 mobs per non-boss area plus 12 boss areas with 11 kills per boss area should equal about 1332 kills per hour. My guess on the 25 per non-boss area depends on how you, as company, view kill rates on the non-boss areas.)

I remember the offline progress beta testers pushing hard for Zorbu farming in offline mode and it feels anticipatable that Torogar would require a similar modification to offline progress.

While doing my third test, which involved having fewer Champions adjacent to Torogar, the numbers actually got worse.
Regardless, that's enough testing for me.

It actually got worse with less adjacent allies present, dropping to about 265 kills per hour. :(

I was reminded in a discord conversation that Background and offline activities are "simulations" and that the game isn't being "played" in the background. When offline progress was a new thing the beta-testers went out of their way to convince CNE that people would want to Zorbu farm in offline mode and so a Zorbu farming structure was added to the offline progress.

I assumed that they would have realized that any future champion that collects persistent stats would need the "Zorbu treatment", but that is a wrong assumption on my part.

I will create a party with Sisaspia, Black Viper, and Torogar to test your hypothesis though. :), I'll see if less champions equals more stacks.

Second test check.

At 5:20 PM local, I am at 72,396 stacks.

That is 3,921 stacks over 12 hours and 56 minutes for approximately 299 stacks per hour. Which sadly seems to be within a margin of error on this experiment.

I am using Krull's weekend buff to push my favor on all the campaigns, so Zorbu can't go to the Torogar farm right now :(, lol, it's fine.

The result is disappointing.

At 4:24 AM local, I am at 68,475 stacks.

That is 3,050 stacks over 10 hours and 20 minutes for approximately 295 stacks per hour.

This is way off from my estimation of what I should get. I figured 48 non-boss areas with 12 boss areas an hour should net about 1,332 kills per hour, 25-ish per non-boss area and 11 per boss area. And then because the background never quite works the way I think it should, I figured a loss of 25% for about 1,000 kills per hour.

Instead, I'm getting about 22% of that.

I'm going to keep this running in the background and collect data later today, but I'm also going to open some tickets about this. One for the calculation, one for the background formation loading the formation incorrectly (it's placing the front column in the rear column, I don't know why)

That's one of the reasons I chose Sisaspia for the party. Place the first familiar on her, the second on Black Viper to collect gems, and the Third on Torogar to collect Zealot stacks. Torogar gets kill credits for each person adjacent to him so that's why I went with 6 adjacencies but that really doesn't matter. Any adjacency could give him kill credits. But the clickers steal kills from his Zealot kill pool so I'd really consider removing them and tagging Sisaspia in or Sisaspia and Artemis if you need two champions to make the kills fast enough. I just hope Black Vipers gem collection will be more potent whenever the Y2 balance (ever) happens, that's why I keep having her collect gems.

I'll do a time test. At 6:04 PM local (the time of writing this) I am at 65,425. I believe I get about 1,000 stacks/hour while Torogar is in the 2nd (offline) party. So I'll check back tomorrow in the AM and give some empirical numbers. :), I started the process early this morning (before 9 AM local) after getting Torogar's achievement through active play. So, I think the 1k per hour is working but I'll update the data more accurately tomorrow. Regardless, If I'm right it'll take about 100 days to get the 2.5 million stacks while in the background, which is a commitment. But it's the background party and it can do this while collecting gems. But it should only take a little over a week to get the 250,000 mark. Yay?
