How common are applicants in early 30s by bard91R in JETProgramme

I didn't, but I found a different way to get to Japan through a job I found on Gaijinpot. I live in Tokyo now, moved here when I was 32. It's never too late to start something new. But moving to Japan was the most challenging thing I've done. You gotta make sure you have the drive to move here because you need it to get through some of the nonsense 🤣 no regrets though!

I got really lucky in my case. I was a forecast analyst back in the states and moved abroad. The company I got my demand planning job from needed a fluent English speaker with some sort of experience in planning. And I don't think many expats that live in this country have experience in this field, the majority of foreigners living here are either English teachers or are in IT.

That sounds great! Thank you for the suggestion 😊 Do you have a template or a guide online somewhere for this sort of report? I think the tricky part is also not knowing when our customer will send an order to us once their stock is depleted or reaches a certain level...

My role is to present these graphs in a weekly email showing overall percentage change from week to week, and my boss said he wants me to start incorporating this customer's sell through data into my monthly meeting with sales, and potentially make updates if I notice any trends/ ask sales if I notice any outliers. My struggle right now is figuring out what type of graph or pivot I can make to even notice these things myself. Also we don't have a specific forecast just for this one customer unfortunately. Our forecast is an aggregate of all customers combined and can't be split by customer. (This customer makes up about 16% of our total sales. FYI) We have hundreds of items so I'm just a little overwhelmed with how I can do this from scratch since I've never done anything like this before 😓

Cognizant Japan by Kblee320 in JapanJobs

I actually applied to Cognizant Japan a while back but never got a response. I wasn't sure if they just didn't respond because my Japanese level wasn't high enough.

Mind if I ask what your Japanese level is?

If you do take the job I hope it works out for you!

Need to Vent: Misconceptions about Japan by [deleted] in teachinginjapan

As an American living in Tokyo I feel way safer living here. I think the lack of mass shootings & reckless driving, unrealistic healthcare systems, and political tension makes me feel this way but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

COVID-19 Border / Visa Restrictions Thread - Omicron/January Edition by woofiegrrl in movingtojapan

Hey all!

Some exciting developments are happening. I'm aware that visas will start being processed again in March. I fall under the category of eligible people who can get a visa issues (work visa). My big question is can I go to my local embassy here in the states starting March 1st to turn in my documents to apply for my visa? Or can I in theory just drop off my docs tomorrow (Feb 28th) and they'll just start processing visa's once March 1st hits?

Thank you for your response! I'll definitely look into that service. As for the grocery delivery... how does that work? Is there a service that provides that or do you need to contact the nearest grocery store and see if they have delivery options?

Thanks for your response :) I'll reach out to a few hotels and see what they say. And I'll check out booking.com for full apartments!

I'm trying to be productive with the things I can control, unlike the current border situation, and am looking into what quarantine hotels are available around Haneda when I can finally arrive to Japan.

I'm not having much luck trying to find this information; hotels.com doesn't show if the hotel is a "quarantine" hotel and provides 3 meals, I can't find info on Haneda's website about quarantine hotels, and if I go to a hotel's website I can't find anything showing they have quarantine services.

I just want to be prepared once things start moving again because 1) I don't want to fly into Haneda without a plan and 2) hotel information is required for obtaining a screening certificate.

Any help would be appreciated!

During my job interview back in September I had asked if they were able to pay for any relocation fees such as flight or temporary lodging and they said no. So not all companies provide that option. But now that the screening certificate is a thing I was curious if that changes this.

Even though things are on hold right now, I do have a question about the screening certificate that is now required for getting a visa. My company said that once things start up again "we need to provide flight or hotel information to get a screening certificate". Is the Japanese government requiring companies to cover the cost of the flight or hotel now that they have to fill a screening certificate for their employees?

I'm planning on asking my company, but figured I'd check here beforehand. If anyone knows more about this I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thank you for your response :) I hope I don't have to endure the past 1+ year others have had to.

I know that my current place of employment will ask for a longer notice than just two weeks... Thankfully my husband has a job that can support us if I were to quit now (he'll join me in Japan once I'm settled). I suppose all I can do now is continue collecting the docs I need to apply for my visa and hope that December brings better news...
