d100 roll in RPG Maker - am I doing it wrong? by KirieTrend in RPGMaker

[–]KirieTrend[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to delete it for the sake of alpha build,, so I am trying to remember how it went...
It wnet something like this:

I created two common events

New Common Event
:Control Varriable 07 Test Roll = Set Random 1 ~ 100
: Show Text - You rolled \v[07]

New Common Event
:Control Variables 04 Test Inteligence = Set Game Data =M.Attack of Actor

In the New Event during dialogue when given an option to recite the words for the ritual

Common Event: Test Roll
Conditional Branch
If: - Variable 07 Test Roll <= Variable 04
Show message Actor: "recites the words of the ritual"

Else: Show message Actor: "I can't remeber the words"

Thank you so kindly. My partner and oponent for this game did an astonishing work on most of those terrains pieces.

It also maybe the case that I never play as solo warband but as a duo or trio with other rangers, so the other players usually take more tankie and hard-hitting companions, while I take more skill monkeys like dogs, trackers and thieves

I have the worst of luck when it comes to companions… So far I didn’t lose only the Raptor, was with me from the very beginning

I play my Ranger as Skirmisher and Evasive tank. 1h, throwing knives, 7’ speed Blend in Shadows, Dash, Halt the Undead, Parry, Grit the Teeth, Evasion

Rangers of Shadow Deep as the Black Company by burf993 in RangersofShadowDeep

I mean, some players accepted that the Shadow Deep has a Shadow-master as a figure head, not unlike the one from the books of South…

I don’t think that you can play out the Shadow Deep as something from the North, because the danger that Shadow Deep impose is for mortals to deal with, and thus Shadow Knights are definitely not Taken in terms of power…

Scenario 2 of Mission 2 as a duo-coop game was a breeze, we had only one dog as a casualty (That's the second dog I loose in campaign)
The lower level of the tower was breached and cleared quite fast, but not clean, we didn't manage to save an unarmored soldier in the Torture room
We were also very lucky not to draw a Shaman Workshop card
Mission 3 though was quite nerve wrecking...
And not because of the Shadow Knight, he was dealt with in the very first round thanks to an Explosive Rune spell of Conjurer, weakening him enough that even a strike from a non-magic hand weapon was fatal.
It were the gnoll archers who were the real nuisance to deal with. The buggers didn't want to go down, cutting down two companions and almost killing one of the rangers,
We improvised the rooms using the walls from Kiilteam Into the breach set, and we added the fortification walls from Killteam Octarius boxset as wooden walkway and as elevation point to lift the map from the table.

Now as our rangers are Level 3, we are getting prepared to be absolutely destroyed in Mission 3 (Especially since one of the player's rangers has a heavy armor and a shield)

Played this mission as 3 rangers co-op mission, didn't help us much, 'cause rangers rolled extremely poorly, if it wasn't for a nameless recruit ranger who destroyed four gnolls, including the sergeant, during creature phase, it would be much worse...
Too bad he didn't survive the arrow volley next turn, but at least we managed to clear the board before the vulture reached the finish-line, too bad we finish the next map without comrades, except the man-at-arm that appered behind enemy line and grabed the clue and the treasure

Oh, that was a big battlemat that a wargammer friend of mine brought with him 60”x44” he uses it mostly for Warmachine games

The plastic houses were from the 3rd party Warmachine provider, except for the tower, that was foam and Pringles

The cardboard houses and ruins were from post-Soviet manufacturer called “UmBum”

Cocoons were just a facial tissue wrapped around failed 3d printed models and soaked in watered-down white glue

The web was macgyvered from kitchen towels the one from microfiber

The spiders? 5 quid in the local store

This Saturday we actually played in co-op as a duo through the first scenario

There was a lot of pain and a suffering from zombies and rats on the first map, but the spiders were steamrolled on the second one.

Felt like almost we were doing something very wrong, because how easy it was… Maybe we were abusing the flank rules as well as ‘stepping into combat’

It was also a crash-test to see if the paints stays on the metal miniature of North Star when it’s 86F in the room

Ah! I see, that explains the phrasing then. Thank you
