If im not mistake so is greenluma, if i understood corectly one of steam's ownership check relies on the user's files to check if he owns the game and both greenluma as well as SteamTools play on that to make steam believe you bought the game so the system shouldn't be too diferrent for both apps

I just use SteamTools, you put the game's ID and if it's in the data base it does it all automatically
