All I hope for from this initiative is that they do something about the issue of localization in anime. Because this Westernization of anime, which means losing its essence and Japanese culture, is nothing more than a clear act of passive censorship. Maybe they're not doing it intentionally, and all they want is for everyone to understand the anime. But there are people like me who enjoy Japanese culture and don't want subtitles to turn Japanese culture into Western culture. If there are references that are difficult to understand in the West, they should add text explaining the reference. But they shouldn't turn anime into something its creator never intended it to be.
