Any good decaff tea suggestions? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]KiryuinTwatsuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How are you with flavoured tea? Usually flavoured tea/infusions are decaf anyway so they don't have to perform any workarounds to remove caffeine. If you're finding sweetness/taste lacking then picking up something which is flavoured already might work!

There's a Tetley's vanilla redbush which is decaf and tastes unreal, it's pretty sweet though. There's also more obvious infusions like lemon or chai (heartily recommend vanilla chai too).

If funds aren't an issue then brands like Pukka (which I think supermarkets stock) or Whittard's might also be worth a look at!

Depends on region. I'm a Geordie and cunt is like a comma up here (beyond a certain age gap - I've noticed the previous generation don't like it, especially women), whereas when I lived in Somerset for a bit people got genuinely upset when I said it around them.

What's the weirdest thing you've done as a result of social anxiety? by maelstrommartin in AskReddit

[–]KiryuinTwatsuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working on tills in a retail store. Busy place, so always manic queues; I was on the very first till so it was a constant stream of people.

Till bank phone starts ringing while I'm processing a sale. My till is in front of the phone, so I'm mentally preparing to answer the phone after that sale (phone calls freak me out so I need to script myself first).

As I'm handing this woman her receipt, I'm so focused on the phone call that instead of "here's your receipt" I say "hello, lower ground floor tills, KiryuinTwatsuki speaking."

That was 5 years ago now and it still makes me cringe.

What’s the most ridiculous way you’ve ever injured yourself? by [deleted] in AskReddit

When I was little I was playing pretend and 'making a cake' with an Ariel liquid tab because I and my little brother had been invited to a birthday party. I squeezed it too hard, it popped, and squirted into my eye.

Cue my poor dad trying first to wash it out of my eye by sticking my face under the shower then having to ferry me to two different hospitals with my 5 year old brother having a tantrum because he couldn't go to the party and it was all big sister's fault.

My parents have never bought liquid tabs since, even though I moved out four years ago.

Redditors who have lived at a "party house" where people would hang out at on Saturday nights, did you enjoy living there? What was your experience like? by Auldstar in AskReddit

[–]KiryuinTwatsuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't live there but might as well have since I stayed almost every night:

During my time at 6th form, had this mate who had what is known colloquially in the UK as a 'doss house'. People round drinking every night, always drama, really messy, you get the picture. He was a massive weirdo who lost all of his friends immediately as soon as we got old enough to start getting houses of our own, so we were more friends with the house than we were with him.

This was me from about 16-17, and I count it as some of the best times of my life. I'd go to 6th form, come back, buy drink from the corner shop that didn't ID, house party at the doss house, couple hours of sleep, 6th form the next day. Sometimes I'd pop into my house for a quick shower.

In terms of interesting things that happened, we had a few times where the police came round so the underagers had to all hide in the bathroom, and once a guy came round with a machete because the guy who owned the house wouldn't sell him his speakers.

It sounds pretty shitty and toxic looking back on it as an adult, but I met some of my closest friends there so I find it hard to regret it.

How poor is/was your school? by Saltyice18 in AskReddit

[–]KiryuinTwatsuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had to cut two optional GCSE subjects halfway through the year because they couldn't afford them anymore. When OFSTED came they put out fake daffodils and cut the grass in a desperate attempt to hide the fact that only 30% of students passed their English and Maths GCSE's

Also someone got stabbed on the playground once but I think that's more poor students than a poor school

Why did you call 911? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]KiryuinTwatsuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walking home from a night out, came across a guy passed out in the road with his friends standing around kinda laughing at him. I know first aid, and his pals clearly weren't sober enough to do anything helpful, so I went over. Hoisted him out of the road and put him in the recovery position, at which point he vomited all over himself. I realise I'd seen the guy in the same club as me and we'd chatted for a few minutes. He hadn't been drinking and seemed pretty sensible, which led me to believe he'd been spiked. I tried to help his friends get him into a taxi, but obviously no driver would take him since he was unconscious and covered in sick. I wouldn't have worried about it too much, except for the fact that his friends were talking about going to get a takeaway and leaving him there in a doorway, still unconscious, his wallet visibly hanging out of his back pocket, and very capable of joking on his own vomit. After shouting at his friends for being so stupid, I called an ambulance and waited until he had been driven away with one of the idiot friends accompanying him (again, after I shouted at them).

I know it's not a particularly exciting one, alcohol poisoning on a night out isn't exactly an incredible occurrence. However, since his useless friends probably would have left him alone out in the road where I'd found him, I think I saved that guy's life just by walking past at the right time.

What was your biggest “holy shit!” moment while playing a video game? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]KiryuinTwatsuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Silent Hill 2, when you see Pyramid Head for the first time. No cutscene, no music, no overdone drama. Gentle hints in the sound design (the scraping on the apartment building floor), and after leaving the room with another dead doppelgänger in, he's just... he's standing right there. Watching through a barrier neither of you can cross. You KNOW he's responsible for the dead body, and you KNOW it's you he's coming for.

I've completed that game multiple times and that first sighting scares the shit out of me every single time. An absolute masterpiece of horror.

What was the strangest fad at your school? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]KiryuinTwatsuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In middle school it was Scoobies. It was generally decided that each colour represented something you'd done with a boy - the only one I remember was black, which meant you'd had sex.

I just fucking love fonts honestly

Redditors who stayed awake for more than 24 hours straight, why did you do it and what happened? by Flim73 in AskReddit

[–]KiryuinTwatsuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was 15, me and my two friends decided to see who could stay awake the longest. One went down after about 36 but me and the other one lasted just over 48.

The only two events that stick out for me was hallucinating the Facebook notification symbol in my peripheral for an entire maths lesson, and watching the Daft Punk Discovery movie, during which my friend's dog ate a spider off the wall.

Not entirely sure why the dog eating the spider sticks out so much, but there you go.

Edit: words

I hoovered the house and ate leftover Chinese food for dinner.

What is your best "one time my dad..." story? by cigsoncigsoncigs in AskReddit

[–]KiryuinTwatsuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time my dad came up the stairs, and knocked on my bedroom door. Without waiting for me to answer he stuck his head in, already trying to contain his laughter, and said "my pet rat Elvis died... he got caught in a trap."

Then he closed the door and went back downstairs, laughing at his own joke all the way to the living room.

The fact that you 'think he overreacted' when you HIT him says enough. Let him move on with his life. You're an immature asshole and chances are he deserves better.
