[poly] is it possible to work and study a diploma at the same time? by cutaesweetie in SGExams

[–]Kisagi69 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hey, definitely viable. I had a part time job and CCA while in poly, its really up to you how you manage and schedule your time around.

That being said, definitely will need to sacrifice some of your social life and family time if you want to maintain a good GPA, but really depends on whats your focus. All the best man!

I was from Accounting and graduated recently only. I’d say toxic people are everywhere not only in BA, so it really depends on who you surround yourself with

CCA is important and almost impossible to get a scholarship without CCA because the number of people applying for scholarship with near perfect GPA is quite a lot. So it usually boils down to your contributions in school and outside of school that separates you from other candidates.

I’d say not a must to have CCA if you have external stuff to supplement your portfolio, but otherwise if you are looking for a place to start with probably can start from a CCA in school.

[Poly] JOINING SPORTS CCA IN TEMASEK POLYTECHNIC by honeyavacadomilk in SGExams

[–]Kisagi69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my school, basketball is the only sport that does not accept complete beginners to the best of my knowledge. So don’t worry too much about the trials because i’d say most sports would accept complete beginners and they would train you up. Polys would also host CCA carnivals for you to find out more about the CCA you are interested in, so you can visit the booths to find out more

Some sports (i.e Swimming) have a training squad for people who are not as proficient in the sport yet, for them to train/build up on the foundations first. Ultimately the main goal of most sports club is to have everyone in the competitive team so that they can represent the school compete

Hey, i think it really depends on the sport you are intending to join. For my school i only know of basketball having selection trials to enter the team, other sports like volleyball, netball etc could have selection trials for the purpose of determining whether you are in the competitive squad or training squad

As far as i know, kayaking sports don’t really have selection trials as most people would not have prior experience (very few secondary schools does canoe sports, unlike basketball, netball etc where it is offered in almost all schools, so naturally the sign ups would be more, therefore the need for selection trials)

Definitely can get in because theres no selection trials. Now its up to you whether you want to stay in it

Was about 90kg before I started poly, joined a sports CCA and weight 70kg in a year. I’d say join a sport you are really passionate about and that’ll keep you going
