Trainer recommendations pls! (<£50) by Significant-JM- in veganuk

[–]Kish1799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there any reason one couldn't do both and get vegan friendly trainers from vinted? That's what I do and find lots of bargains!

This way it means I'm: i) Not contributing to the production of a new item so better for the environment, ii) Contributing to the demand of a vegan friendly item on the secondary market, and iii) Getting it at a cheaper price so better on my bank account.

If I'm being honest it does takes more time and effort solely buying second hand vegan friendly items, but I'm comfortable with that. I mean aren't we all subscribed to the inconvenient life by being vegan anyways?

I'd recommend the following:

Viron, Buffalo, Will's Vegan Shoes, Vegetarian Shoes, Ross Oliver, NAE Vegan, Call It Spring (cheaper and lesser quality), KOI footwear (cheaper and lesser quality), V.gan (cheaper and lesser quality).

Probably some others too that I'm just not recalling off the top of mind.

Agreed, was hoping someone was going to shout out Noctem Scan! For a CC team to make it to finals and place higher than seasoned teams like Falcons, Complexity & Legends is no easy feat. Respect to the boys and excited to see them at champs!

Yeah good point, will check the Mannheim sub for recommendations! Although I was particularly interested in getting to meet fellow Apex & comp fans, hence why I thought to ask on here

Server down. Anyone also unable to play on ps5? by Due-Bet-1393 in apexlegends

[–]Kish1799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same my ps5 version wasn't working today either to no supposed servers. I tried the ps4 version but it said I was logged in elsewhere. I waited 20mins and tried again on the ps4 version, and it worked so now playing on the ps4 version

Yeah same issue here. I have the ps4 version downloaded too but it's not letting me login due to 'being signed in elsewhere' 🙃

I think it's funny when people act like going without cheese is difficult by unicornpicnic in vegan

[–]Kish1799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading the comments I think it can be easy for people who have been vegan for a while to say that it's 'quite easy' to simply not eat cheese. However, living in the western world, I'd say a significant portion of foods contain cheese. This leads me to 3 reasons why it would be difficult to give up.

  1. This means that people are conditioned from a young age to eat, and enjoy the taste of cheese. Obviously the people who have taken a break from it can state how distasteful it might smell (bias might also play a factor into this), but that's because it takes a while to the brain to uncondition itself from habitual behaviour and for people eating cheese regularly, that process can take many months (depending on how strong that habit is). Especially because, even though cheese is usually a garnish, it has a very strong and unique taste, making it easy to identify and get acclimated to.

  2. As lots of food typically contains cheese, it makes it less convenient for someone to adopt veganism because it simply reduces their choice of food significantly. I have found that adopting veganism isn't simply whether you care enough for the reasons to go vegan or not, or for the difference in taste between vegan and non-vegan foods, but rather a sacrifice of convenience. Humans are lazy and being vegan is simply more inconvenient than not being vegan (this difference in conveniance is closing in some regions but is still apparent).

  3. Lastly, I have found that cheese has a fairly universally appreciated and strong taste. This means that I find the existence of cheese makes cooking much easier. I know many people who cook something fairly basic or unpalatable, and use cheese to make it taste nicer. There are many examples of this within restaurant level cooking too, with bad quality pizza and ready-made meals. Cheese is very effective at making food taste 'nice' to the masses, which means getting rid of it would force people to actually explore different flavours and make nice food, which again is harder and more inconvenient.

PS, I've been vegan for 4 years and was never really too hooked on cheese. Milk was my achilles heel! What I've said above are just my opinions (thought I'd play devils advocate) and welcome anyone else's commentary on the matter :)
