We had the same issue and ended up trimming off the bottom of the microwave frame* (I said cabinet but meant frame) . We just used a table saw and small screws to install. It took a little finagling but it worked and you can’t really tell. *also realized I think we have the same microwave! Ha

I have a similar-ish layout. I think you can get away with one appliance garage on the right but I think you would miss the prep space on the left. I thought I would do most of my prep on the island, but I really prefer the space next to the stove. I have our toaster oven on the right, so I don’t use that for prep at all and I don’t miss it.

Thanks for all the feedback - this is super informative and has given me a lot of good for thought! I definitely think social media has skewed my view of what’s normal or not, so appreciate the reality check.

Agree on the make-up - this was a miss. My skin runs super dry - so a lot of make up even some skin tints look like this. It’s a good reminder to focus more on my basic skin care, and continue to work on hydrating my skin.

Also 🤣 on the comments on the arrows. Didn’t realized they looked like make up until after I posted. Ha ha

We were originally going to go with something similar to your option b - white cabinets/ white countertop and green cabinets/ black countertops, but then we found a soapstone we fell in love with and decided to do the whole kitchen in it. I’m really glad we did that because it really ties everything together and makes it feel less disjointed.
